Unfortunate, but expected. Personally, I would have preferred that Toyota kept the 5th gen exterior and spent that money on improving the mileage instead.

So it appears that the sliding tray is an option on the TE for 2014, instead of standard. Yaaaaa!!! I personally don't like the sliding tray.

yeah but the other options are not that great either.
on the LE, you have :
1. sliding tray
2. 3rd row seats
3. auto running boards
none of those (for me) work, but unless you special order a no package version (can you order a LE w/o a package?), your stuck with one of those packages from the dealer.

well I did it, ordered my 2014 silver LE. I used the dealers first 2 allocations of 4 for my 2 versions. he brought up the allocation page and let me go thru the package and pio/dio option page and pick out what I wanted on it.
primary is FE LT in silver, secondary is FE LT in dark blue.
FE = 50 state emissions
LT = Limited pacakage
I was able to order it without the sliding cargo tray, 3rd row seat, auto running boards.
couldn't remember the options codes for the following but I did put these in for my pio/dio options.
exhaust tip
mudguards
running boards
paint protection film
he's going to get back with me in a week or so to let me know how the allocation request was received by Toyota.

How were you able to request a specific vehicle for the dealer's allocation? I've placed inquiries at 5 dealers, and none of them suggested that. In fact, none could even tell me when the '14's would arrive. One of the sales managers told me that I would not be able to preference a '14 until the second or third allocation arrives.

I called mine last week to see if they have any in stock, they said not yet, but they could order me one and it'd be there in Mid October. He proceeded to ask what I wanted and told me how much it would be.
So question, if you special order one, do they make you commit to buy it? Or if you don't like it once it arrives you can just walk away? My gut feel to this answer is that you are not committed, as long as you haven't signed anything.

these are non committed allocations.
he was a little leary of ordering the silver w/o the CF option so I gave a little and put CF on the blue but not the silver since I will be ordering weather tech's instead.
CF = carpeted floor mats
I've bought so many Toyota's from them, I know the main floor manager (I don't think he is the gm, but then again I know the big key people very well), so yes I get preferred treatment.
that may be your problem of getting dealers to give you the inside scoop if you have tried 5 different dealers, but that's just my opinion.
forgot to add, the screen showed only 2 builds for silver and blue each, other colors had higher numbers. I don't know if that was an allocation amount or what they are building for him that will be in the pipeline for his dealership.

I did just walk away from a 45k lexus gs350 awd, and I know the invoice for a FE LT 2014 4runner is 40,900. even with all my pio/dio options, I still wont break probably 44k high side / 42.5k low side otd.
so I wont be going over my budget of 46k.

+ $925 dest charge
$40,853 / $44,325
exhaust tip = $57 / $90
mudguards = $68 / $109
running boards = $359 / $599

so totals are :
$41,556 invoice
$45,518 msrp
dealer discount = roughly $2780 (this is probably +/- $100-200)
final best price = $42,738 up to 43k I am guessing from how they do business (best price).

Yeup, the 2014 4R is on their website ...
I have to admit, the TE body style is starting to grow on me.
I think the Nautical Blue paint with the Redwood leather would look really nice.

2013 has entune
All the wiring harness will be different, unless you know someone who is going to rewire everything for you. Not to mention the steering wheel controls are different too. Mounting HD radio antena, etc..
Though, if you do do it, please do share how
I have contemplated doing this myself and was quoted TOO much by the dealer for the work.

i was asking because the 2014 entune is different. i'm guessing the hardware (maybe updated processor) might be different.

They kept saying Tundra in the video, but I'm guessing it's the same thing?
It does seem to be a little better than the previous gen entune.
