2014 4Runner

Another update from Hawaii: took my '12 to the dealer for the third complimentary service in the morning -- no '14s, just empty parking spaces. Came back in the afternoon on the courtesy shuttle -- and there were a bunch of '14s!

I had to run to another appointment, so I couldn't spend more time or ask for a test drive, so I just walked around and "absorbed" the new look. In my opinion: they look much better in person.

A few things I noted:

- nice to see an actual front license plate bracket; I like it (think it adds to the look)
- mudflaps on the SR5 and Trail; none on the Limited
- the (optional) fixed running boards on the Trail and SR5 look good (better than the accessory running boards)
- the Trail and SR5 were non-premium and did not have the mirrors with puddle lamps or turn signal repeaters

thanks for the pics and video, shame they didn't have a classic silver limited. still cant find a front view of one to help with my color choice.

Separated at birth?

I see this when I look at that new front. I guess 'cause I'm a fisherman? :noidea:

This is what I see when I look at it. A big brother to the Mitsubishi RVR

well I did find a dealer with pricing on a 2014 limited with almost every dam option/accessory you could imagine located in Dickinson, ND.

$47,532

•LEATHER-TRIMMED 50/50 SPLIT FOLD-FLAT 3RD ROW

•SPECIAL COLOR - BLIZZARD PEARL
•RUNNING BOARDS
•REMOTE ENGINE STARTER
•MUDGUARDS
•LUXURY PACKAGE
•HITCH BALL MOUNT
•CARPET FLOOR MATS & CARPET CARGO MAT

that's a tad bit spendy for MSRP. even the one I selected for allocation is bare bones w/o a package and only a few options and is probably 3-4k cheaper.

The Limited 2WD in the photos I took had a sticker of $43.9K including destination. The only options were the Blizzard Pearl paint and auto running boards. That's about $1.5K more than a similarly optioned '13.

Note that Hawaii MSRPs are slightly different from the rest of the US. Might be because we don't get Entune apps or Sat radio (my '12 doesn't even have the sharkfin on the roof). The latter is technical. The former is because I heard the Hawaii distributor (Servco) chose not to license (=pay) for Entune. Doesn't matter to me as I can still stream Pandora just fine without it.

the auto running boards are $1500 msrp

Of the 3 front ends, I think the limited has the most potential. Just remove the chrome bars and have new fog light bezels made that contours to the bumper and paint them black. Then get a new "Audi" like grill made. I think the end results would be very aggressive with the new headlights. As for the rear, swap out the limited bumper for the SR5 one and paint the lower section flat black like the current TE. Paint the fender flares and lower portion of the front bumper flat black and you'll end up with a nice mean TE looking 2014 with the nice Limited interior. That's what I would do if I had $50K laying around.

Toyota website lists the optitron gauges on a trail well what does the sr5 have for gauges? Further more some dealers have pics of the 2013 listed as the new model. This is turning into biggest gong show I've seen.:hurt:

I'm taking delivery of my 2014 ltd (magnetic grey) on Thursday. While I'm not thrilled about all the changes, it will be a huge step up from my 2008 sport edition!

if I remember correctly, all models get the optitron gauges.

Almost nobody here has seen the real vehicles, not just pictures on video screens.

Possible alternatives are buying a rental house which pays each month.

Just went to my local dealer and they are selling 2014 already. Waiting for mine to come in. Ill post a few pics that i took today

Here are pics i took while at the dealer today

Ugh I hate front license plate. Been running without one the last 6 years and never been pulled over for it, even when I drove a sporty cat. I hope the holes aren't too big when it gets taken off.

Good for you. I tried that no front license plate when I moved from PA to NY. It only took me 2 months for a pullover and a fix it ticket and another 6 months for a $105 fine and another fix it ticket. Decided not to fight the establishment.
