2014 4Runner

I don't login here often because I drive a Tacoma, and lurk more than anything, but just wanted to say I have always liked the 2014 front end since the pictures of it went out.

Dropped by the Toyota dealership to check up on my old 3rd gen my sister now drives (was at the body shop after she hit a wild hog), and they happened to have 2 2014 Trail Editions on the lot. The front end in person is WAY mean! Probably the sickest looking front-end I have seen on any offroad SUV to date. Really tight front end, very high-speed low-drag esque. Interior bells and whistles looked awesome along with the black color scheme going on. I really like the black accents in the headlights and tail-lights. Not sure what color scheme was similar between 2014 and prior 5th gen TE as far as interior goes, but regardless, its a great looking vehicle. Price tag on one was sitting about 38k and the other was up at almost 43k.

The limited was alright in person, but I'm not into the street SUV look. Really dig the 14 TE factory wheels too.

I didn't take any pics but one of the TE was MGM and the other was White.

2014 Trail premium

Just purchased a 2014 Trail Premium this weekend. Right away added BFG all terrains!

Just pulled the trigger on a 14 Trail Premium

Ive been enjoying the results of all the mods on this site for some time now. Posts from Harper7, Antman, Okki, 1Engineer and the list goes on and on and on.... :thanks:
I was gonna mod my SR5, honest I was, added the Baja flat rack and looked at Harpers build page about a thousand times and then got lured in by the Vehicle Exchange program... ok weak excuse but anyway I pick up my Trail on Thurs. While I negotiated my price this week the field of vehicles in New England evaporated from 4 to 1 in a matter of minutes... got the one I wanted.
Called Bud today and says I will have my bumpout sliders by next week, he says Im the second guy in Maine putting them on a 14! I quizzed him on URD Blowers, lol... It's probably buried in the blower pages but turns out that URD couldnt get a critical harness connector , blocked by the establishment ;) , apparently they have developed the casting to mold their own! Production is imminent (?) so it appears we will have a choice....

I really want to add a budbuilt delivery truck resistant rear bumper w/ spare tire rack! Especially since Bud tells me they have a neat storage locker that goes where the spare was!

Until Thursday :reddance:

On the Limited, I wish there was more wood trim in the center console area.

Please don't take this wrong... WHY WHY WHY? Cars that were made out of wood were called CARRIAGES. We're past that! I don't find wood trim in vehicles attractive at all. It reminds me of the 70s wood panelling that every house was built with. Again, not a dig at you... I've just never understood the whole wood thing with cars.

Great pictures though! :whoo:

I am also not a huge fan of wood either. And given the Limited's newly added blackness to the rims and those crazy aftermarket looking tail lights, the last thing I'd want to see when I open the door is a bunch of wood on everything. What about something stainless or carbon fiber?? I know that's not lux like the Limited is suppose to be, but Toyota went all young kid on us with everything on the exterior of it.

I posted in the wrong thread yesterday.

Was getting an oil change at my dealership and they had the new "blue" LE in the show room.

That color is sexy... However, I still can't get over the huge rapper style grill.

i agree, i prefer not to have the wood but we dont have a say in it.

because the 1-10% that hate the wood is overwhelmed by the 90% who want wood which happen to be the majority of the buying public for 4runners.

i see more women driving 4runners than i do men, at least in my neck of the woods.

I guess I'm just an old guy, because I like wood panels. Granted, this look doesn't work for a 4Runner:

Hi

Hi,

Well, after a few months of thought and research on this forum I wanted to say thanks for all the information!

I finally pulled the trigger and got a 4runner. LE with 3rd row and power running boards. I am going to miss my old car a ton, but with a growing family, its time to move on to a different realm of automotive enjoyment. Out with the quick and in with the slow.

I think I'm going to do some snows on those skinny LE rims for NE ski time fun and some wider 18's or 17's with decent all terrains for the summer/beach/Mt biking fun.

No rock crawling for me, but I didn't buy the truck to keep it on the road and in the malls. Otherwise I would have handed in my "man" card and got a Highlander! (No offense to highlander owners! I'm just joking around!)

A clean slate to start modding! WOOHOO!

Cheers,
Todd

lol that will be my exact same picture here next month.

instead of a 2.5GT to 2014 LE Silver

i will be going from a 3.6R to a 2014 LE Silver.

too bad since the 2.5GT is a dead model that will be sought after in the years to come for those that like to mod them for stage 1-2.

bittersweet

Ha, cool!

Yeah, it was bittersweet to get rid of the Subaru. I really enjoyed the car. Life changes and I'm happy with the truck! It's not fast, but that's hardly the point. My 2.5 year old daughter misses the "go fast" car, but she really likes the "big big truck".

Eventually, I may go back to quick cars some day :P

Hope your truck comes in soon!

Do you all consider the 2014 model year the start of the 6th Gen 4runner?

just curious. I see it lumped into the 5th Gen forum section... not sure if a new front grill facia makes it "6th Gen" that seems to be the only real difference (besides exterior color options) or am I missing something?

6th gen wont come out until 2016/2017 model year.

toyota usually run 6-7 model year cycle on generations.

I sat in the Limited and personally the silver felt out of place with the Redwood interior and a few pieces of wood trim they stuck in there. Had they did some textured black trim, that would have been nice as well. I think some people like me would pay for wood trim in a Limited as an option. On the TE and SR5, I'd say no to wood.

well talked to the dealer today, suppose to hit port on 13-Nov. We are guessing around the first week of December when it hits the dealer after PIO and rail, and trucking it.

i am glad its hitting after the beginning of the month, that way i don't waste a whole month on tags.

plus it will be a nice xmas gift to myself (with the warden's approval).

time frame :

25-sep-13 ordered
13-nov-13 port
4-dec-13 dealer arrival (est)
