Can someoneprovide the part number for these as well as the seal. I would like to have a spare set already pressed together in my kit if needed for trail replacement on panamerica trip.

I'd talk to Bumper2Bumper Auto he builds bolt-on hubs for the 4th gen and Tacoma guys at a great price and quality. He might have stuff for 5th gens (I think they didn't really change.) It'll be cheaper than getting all the red box parts separately and putting them together.

Parts are not bad like 120 for the pair. Just need a press. Lowest I havesee complete is 150 a piece.

had to replace a hub assembly over the summer, the bearing was already on the OEM hub I picked up from the stealership

Thanks for the mention! Yes, mine do also include the 5th gen. Pretty much every 4 runner from 2003 to current model year.

I would be cautious about the lower priced sets. They tend to use inferior bearings. Just an FYI for the future.

I am aware of the lower cost bearing this was using Moog, Toyota, Timken, Koyo, Dorman, etc.. So I doubt that the are inferior.

Well Red Box (genuine Toyota) parts are basically $150 just for the wheel hub with 6 Lugs, not including the bearing, seal, and 4 bolts to be pressed with the hub.

They're very similar to each other as the hub of J120 platform is very similar if not the same as the J150 platform among other parts.

Thanks for the replies. i ended up buying a 12 Ton press from Harbor Freight, for $100. It will work great for bearings and the such. Plus I can use it to build AKs. I figured a shop if I brought in the parts woukd charge me at least 40-80 to remove/ pressbearing or,just press new bearing/hub. In the end I think that this may be the wiser route allowing me to save money in the end as the parts can be found less than OEM but still high quality, so glad that there are options and even those out there with quality assembled bearings hub from the $130-$170 mark. Lots of great options.

We plan on taking a Pan American Trip and want to have spares since parts can be difficult if not impossible to find on such an expedition. With a little engenuity and know how it is pretty easy to get something like this up and running again. If it all works out I will do a thorough write up of the preperation for the trip and all the equipment we took as well as the best part the journey. I need to seel quite a few things first including my old FJ, but I beleive it will work out in time. Just not happy not being able to carry in some states and definitely below the border.

Thanks again
Steve

Cool! There have been quite a few that have taken down south trips in 4runners. One guy went Alaska to Argentina. Good luck!

I have been wanting to do this since my D90 days. Now being retired makes it a little easier though I think I would rather havea group instead of just my wife and I. It is just a simple wish perhaps will never make it past the planning stages who knows.

I still would like to do an Alaska trip, never had the time off from the military to do so. Heck wanted to move there wife said way too cold, then I asked her about Northen Montana she liked the idea until she found out how cold it got in Bitteroot, haha so we left Colorado and came back east to the Appalachians. I got a cabin out of it on a mountain type top so not all bad.

Understood. My wife and I traveled so much for our jobs back in the day (she was a USAF Captain as a flight nurse and I as an engineer) that now we just like home. Hope you get to make the trip!

Well with my injuries I am pretty agoraphobic, and without my carry maes it even tougher. I too have been all over yet the wife not so much. She is happy at home too, me too just still have wanderlust. It is one of my bucket list things to do. I am not getting any younger and afraid I may not be able to in the future. Man how sad, on a brighter note. We love the mountains love being retired and want to make the most out of the hand that was dealt to me for better or worse you know.

I was a combat medic in the army. Though your job is just the standard and well you usually have like three other jobs as well, especially while deployed. I hate not being back in the action but glad to be away from the politics of it. Same reason ai gout out in the Clinton years from the Air Force.

I have learned alot through my Landrover, Pinzgauer, toyota Fj, days tha I think I will have a blast prepping for the trip and getting oarts together etc, if it ever happens. I do think that this is part of the journey and for me makes it exciting.

Hope that the bearings go in and out without too much trouble. I've heard of some 4th gen guys having a hell of a time with larger presses and ended up taking them to machine shops.

I have done it quite a few time with an FJ but had access to a military auto shop. No more, they are a bear to get off. Last time I did one I had the bearing and all break off leaving me to have to cut off the the rest of the housing. That is why a spare is an excellent thing!

Always a good idea to have spare. I have had customers get them just for that reason. Nothing worse than to have a bearing fail on a Sunday, with no shops open to do the press work! lol. Yes, you are right that these are a bear to come apart. Most of the times the race will break apart and drop the rollers out, leaving the inner race on the outboard bearing still stuck on the hub. Usually a cutter and some patience will get them off.
