2014 Entune problems

Ok, let me look it up for you ....

ummmm, Post 154.......IIRC

Just navigate thru your HU settings to see what update you have, contact your dealership and tell them you are having issues and you need to come in for a update!

Hope this helps

Thank you so much appreciate it!

Greg, I haven't got any details on that, and it's my guess, that if that were the case they would keep that information close.

I'll see if I can find out exactly what the reason is when I take it in.

Okay, just wondering what the hold up is now; there could be a bunch of bad HU's but if they can't find a good one... there's plenty in their Lot outside the showroom!

It's being replaced as I type this. The only thing I was told was Toyota Tech (Corporate) informed the dealership that if the HU had the latest update and was malfunctioning, replace it with a new one from the factory.
The Shop Forman informed me that this unit is supposed to have the current updates.
We'll see if they get it right.
Hopefully so!

I just took my 2014 Limited for it 25k service last week- also been having intermittent random reboots with no apparent reason, which I started noticing maybe about 4-6 months ago. I mentioned it to the service guy and he said Toyota is apparently aware of the issue and is working a new update which has not been released yet and does not have a firm date when it will be issued - anyone know anything about this? He said this was an issue on a Highlander that's why he remembered. I don't have 100% confidence in what the guy told me - not sure if he was just trying to blow me off. He did not offer to update anything or replace the head unit -said they would need to see the issue to order a new unit. Said to call back in 1 month's.

The update is available (I've had it flashed). Maybe try another dealer or another service manager...

I had it flashed last month, and I haven't had the reboot issue since. This has saved my pocket book for the time being (I really didn't want to have to go aftermarket to get a damn radio to function normally).

Lester posted the TSB... Take this in as proof, if needed.

Thanks for that - so I called the service guy and he says this is the old update that is creating other issues and they are waiting for another update which has not come out yet. He said he was going to send my email to his manager and get back to me. He said he would love to do the update and get paid by Toyota for the warranty repair but advised against it. Wonder if I need to go to another dealer now. Has anyone who have had this update still have issues?

My unite has been doing this as well lately, some days more then others. I did the last update through my phone. I will try and do the four Hr HU reset after work today. I am sitting at 45k on my 14 trail and am clearly out of Warranty. will the dealer still do the software update for free since its a known issue.

So the service guy called me back and said he spoke to his manager and they want me to bring the vehicle back to check what version I have and willing to do the update if I have the old software - he said they are not 100% sure the current firmware will definitely fix all the problems though. I think i am going to go ahead and get them to update it the firmware - nothing to lose right?

Recommend check your software edition, take a photo of it on the screen, when your HU messes up, use your phone and video what it is doing so you can show the service manager.

And to add to Saker, if he calls you back about another update that is different than the one currently available, please let us know. I'd be interested in seeing what changed.

Dealer just updated to 0101D1 which seems to be the same one you got. He also said the TSB which I showed him that was posted here earlier was was for an older version 0101C1. This is for Entune Premium Audio.

So I have a 2014 trail withe the navigation and sirius sat radio. When I first got the truck I noticed occasionally my phone would not connect to the bluetooth or it would connect then seconds later it would disconnect. So by trial and error I found if I start the truck with my phone inside there was a higher chance it would connect. Also realized it must be in park to manually connect the phone. Fast forward to my 5000 mile service. I tell the tech the issue and of course my phone connect seamlessly and we could not reproduce the issue. And now again its happening so bad to the point it never connects. Has anyone had this problem. I have a verizon iphone 4 which works well with all my other bluetooth devices

Thank God for enthusiast car forums today! I have had my 16 Trail Premium for exactly one week and it does this. Most notably when I try to play back my message through bluetooth, it ends the call at 10 seconds and I have to manually listen to the message (Samsung 6). This E- Tune in way overly complicated. So I have to take the runner in for service 1 week after its new! I will be having them check for updates.

I had the typical freezing/rebooting from my '14 Entune HU. Took it to the dealer and they initially said they had to replicate the problem to do anything about it. I politely insisted my cell phone video evidence was sufficient and they ordered a new HU.

They said 3-5 business days for delivery. Interestingly, I called on day 7 when I hadn't heard anything and the service guy said he called to see what the status was a day prior and he was told by Toyota they were working on fixing the head unit issue and would be sending out new head units in a few days (I got mine 3-4 days later).

Not a 2014 but a 2015 Entune

So I don't have a 2014 but I do have a 2015 with the Entune Premium Audio w/Navigation and App Suite. Purchased 11/2014.

My story may not be the same but I thought I would post in case it would help someone out.

I had the AT&T iPhone 5s and everything was working fine with the HU bluetooth and Entune Apps.

Just at the end of April 2016 I upgraded phones and handed down others to the kids. I got the 6s. Bluetooth hooked up no problems but Entune App on the phone would not connect with HU and trying to use any app on the HU would result in message saying I had to have an app running on the phone for it to work.

Created a case with Toyota and took it to the dealer as well. These are all of the things I had tried that did NOT work:
1) deleted all personal data on the HU
2) deleted Entune account through the web-page and built a new one a day later.
3) rebuilt the iPhone 6s without restoring anything as if it was a totally new phone and new account with none of my settings, I only applied the Entune App. Still no Entune synch.
4) took it to dealer where their service tech confirmed I had the latest software on the HU and connected Entune on their own phone successfully but my Entune would still not synch.
5) un-linked all of the associated apps (Slacker, iHeart, Pandora, Movie, Open-table, Facebook) via the web-site.
6) Tried all of the above as well with the USB cable connection.
7) tried all of the above with other iPhones as well including the 5s that I used to have and Entune would not synch for me. I never got around to trying someone with a different phone like an Android.

Keep in mind that in my case bluetooth was still rock-solid and consistently working even after "forgetting" from the phone and vehicle multiple times.

At this point I had resigned myself to just using Bluetooth as all of its functions worked perfectly from the beginning.

The HU and the Entune App on the phone just didn't seem to see each other for my particular Entune account.

I really like the voice feature in the vehicle in terms of searching for a destination and that only works with Entune.

SOMETHING FIXED IT ALL:

Last week there was an Entune App update in the Apple App Store. I downloaded that to the phone but the HU still would not see that Entune was running on the bluetooth connected phone. Nor would the HU see Entune running on the phone if the phone was connected via the USB cable.

Now I don't know which of these two items actually fixed the problem, but here they are:

1) Apple put out an iOS update to 9.3.2 from what I had (9.3.1). iOS 9.3.1 though was on my 5s when it worked properly before.

At this point I should have tried Entune again but I didn't. Instead I opened Entune on the phone and un-linked all of the associated accounts (Slacker, Facebook, Open-table etc.) but this time via the app running on the phone rather than through the website.

2) with no apps signed-in (linked) to Entune I connected the phone to the car and suddenly Entune connected too!

Now the HU displayed that an update was needed and so I let it run and install.

With the update completed on the head unit I shut down the car.

I logged into Entune App on the phone. I went through and linked all of my associated accounts again via the iPhone app (not via the website). Restarted the car and everything linked up again and working.

So I am not sure if the iPhone iOS update was the resolution or me unlinking my accounts via the Entune App on the phone or the combination of both. Maybe if it applies to someone else they can try unlinking the accounts via the app on the phone to see if that gets Entune to synch before applying the iOS update.

I've had my TRD-Pro for just over 2 months now, and one problem I've had is when I receive an incoming call, it will show on the HU, and I can answer via the screen or steering wheel buttons, but when I answer, I have to pick up the phone to talk, because the call isn't transferred to the handsfree system. It typically only happens on incoming calls, not outgoing. It's been somewhat sporadic, so I've been able to deal with it.

Today, as I drove to work, I turned on the Nav so I could see what the traffic would be like, and after about 10-15 minutes or so, the system rebooted. Once it came back up, I set the destination again, and within a minute or two, it rebooted again. I repeated this step two more times with the same outcome. After that, I left the Nav off, and the reboots stopped. I guess I'll have something to discuss when I get my 5K service.

will do, but I know i did do an update in early May.

If "you" did an update, all you did was a Entune phone app update. Not referring to that one.
The update I am referring to is on your HU itself and that has to be done via Techstream. You can check what software update you currently have on your HU....

I also recommend this. We just had to have this done to our 2014 TEP. So it has solved a few issues we started having. FWIW, the dealer stated if the head unit acts up any more, he would just order a completely new unit.

And that's exactly what they did on mine... (as typed in bold)
