2014 Interior LED Swap

Did you replace the lights under the side mirrors? I tried but I couldn't get to them. If you know how to replace them could you post that?

Well I am certain this subject has been discussed a few times by now but I figured I would add a few pictures to anyone wondering what the process involves.

First off I changed the following interior lights:

- Front Map Lights (x2 - 194)
- Center Dome (48SMD Festoon 31mm)
- Bottom Door (x4 - 194)
- Rear Hatch (x2 -12SMD Festoon 31mm)
- Vanity Lights (x2 - 194)
- License Plate (x2 -194)

I ordered every bulb from a seller by the name of JTechNowCom on ebay. I did a small initial order and when the product was sent quick I made a few more orders. So far I am highly impressed with the product and the shipping was very quick from CA area.

All the bulbs fit without issue and the light output is much better than OEM. The only lights that are difficult to remove are the rear hatch. Thanks to another user on here (unknown at this time) it was stated to look for the metal latch on the drivers side of the light (both) and apply pressure here. Sure enough the light released. Overall all I can suggest is take your time, work slow and you should have no problems.

To the OP, are any of these bulbs stuck in place with adhesive or do the "clip" into place?
The reason I ask is here in Las Vegas, self adhesive things come loose during the summer months.
Ask me how I know? Actually no don't..LOL

Bay33saw there are no adhesive mounted lights with the exception of the center dome "panel" which is also held in place by the clear dome cover. We suffer the same issues here in tropical Florida btw :wacko:

As for "warm" LEDs, I am certain you can find vendors offering a different color temp, although I was not looking for them.

Here is a suggestion for those looking to purchase the 194 LED's. I made a purchase of both sizes (Large 15 SMD and small 9 SMD) and used what I liked (in consideration to output and fit). The price is very low and having extras on hand was worth the purchase. The vendor I used from Ebay is still around and I strongly suggest his product. I have had zero issues since installation.
 
well warm color would be about 2700k led or a 3100k led (typically its 3100k)

white would be 5k led

blue tinge would be 6k led

there are write-ups on this from last year in my build thread and from others where I piggy back on those installs.

Thanks for the help on this. I finally found the kit on amazon. I have been looking for the full LED interior kit on several sites and came up empty handed. Super cool. I hope to have this done next week.

Anybody with these in the truck for a while have any issues with the heat causing issues with the plastic covers? I know some of my CREE wafer flashlights get hot as hell, but I also assume the lumes are much higher in the flashlight and therefore the heat.

I just installed the LEDs so I can't say I have much experience with this matter, but I think that since the interior lights don't stay on for a prolonged period of time it should not be a problem...Halogen bulbs get pretty darn hot too, and those are the standard bulbs!.....just my thoughts.

The "use some tape" trick really worked for me! A few tires using duct tape and they popped right out :o)
 
just swapped mine out for interior LED's, very very happy with them, will do the puddle lamps after the weekend when have a bit more time. Am waiting for my LED back up lights to arrive so I can swap those out as well. :)
