2014 tails info

Called my local dealer and asked about prices/availability of the new tail lights.

The parts guy owned a 2010 and was interested himself. He said there were three different tails in his system. Which makes sense with the 3 trim levels but in all the pictures i cant tell a difference between any of them. They all look the same to me. The Trail looks like the limited and the SR5. ???

Anyway list was $308-$380 per light, not per pair, depending on which one. He couldnt get a description of each without a VIN to line it up with.

So at over $600 for this i held off but he could have ordered them right then.

I remember reading somewhere on here that it's not plug n play.

You might need to do some custom wiring.

I think the trails might have the lines on the taillight tinted. Almost like the pre-refresh headlights (Chrome vs smoked headlight piece). I haven't seen one in person yet so I'm not 100% sure, but looking at these two pics you can see the chrome in the limited and the dark/smoked color on the trail. I'm referring to the line that separates the lower red reflector from the middle LED piece.



Shouldn't Depo or TYC have some nice aftermarket lights out for us by now????

I cant tell if the LE is chrome or if it is just the glare. In other pics i couldnt see any difference at all. I have to assume there is some difference that makes up the difference in price.

I dont know for certain. I am hoping it is P&P based on past toyota models and even non toyota vehicles that usually are.

I'm curious about the tail lights and the new rocker panels on the SR5s.

Looks like it would fit on a 2013 SR5.

Im interested in doing the conversion as well. Hopefully someone can confirm for sure if it'll be plug n play. I'm also interested in adding the new rocker panels as well as a front end conversion I may be in the minority but I absolutely love the aggressive new front end. I'm a huge fan of Predator flicks

That's a real bummer that they are so pricey, I wonder if there's any extra electronics involved to drive the LEDs in the brake/parking lamp portion making the price so much higher? I think the 4th gen ones were pretty much electronically identical(power circuit layout, resistance, etc.), hence why it seems like you can just plug and play, but maybe not the case this time?

Anyone with a new 2014 here want to be daring and probe around a little bit in their new rides to give us a good idea of how it's wired in exactly?

I guess I will have to live vicariously though one of you guys, way to rich for my blood, lol.

Good point, I was under the assumption that this was already the discounted price, but then I just re-read OP's post and noticed he said local dealership.
