2015 hood flex help!!

My 2010 limited has never had this issue. Going 80 MPH into the heavy Kansas winds and still no issues. ( I'm from KS.)

To stop the flexing all one has to do is reach out the window and firmly press down on the hood. If you can persuade your passenger to do the same, and in an alternate pattern, you can get it to do "the wave." Try it!

Ok reading lots of stuff on here. Everything from welding more supports to dynamat. I have a white 15 sr5p. It's an amazing truck. Just rolled 11k in 6 months. But, the hood flex is crazy. I want to know in short what really works? Is it a warranty issue? I don't wanna spend money on anything.

My 2016 Trail Premium hood doesn't flex. It's perfect! I feel like jumping for JOY!

I've seen this with every. single. hood i've vern owned.. try using a CF hood. now THOSE hoods flex something fierce..

I first noticed the infamous hood flutter when driving home my new 2015 4Runner. I picked it up about an hour and a half away. To be honest it severely annoyed me at first. It just struck me as very cheap. Still does. I have owned many cars and trucks and have never had a hood with flex / flutter like that. Ever. I was very disappointed at first and second guessed the purchase of my first Toyota. I can say though that I absolutely love the 4Runner and I have gotten used to it. I notice it once in a while but usually don't even notice it anymore unless I think about it. It's just one of those things I guess.

I read this entire thread because when I picked up my 2015 TP in August of last year, the flexing of the hood, especially on the drivers side, near the windshield was very noticeable. In fact I made a comment on another thread I felt the hood scoop probably stiffened it some. I even stopped on the way home to make sure the hood was closed properly.

If all of the comments I read, I feel adding Dynamat may be the best alternative. Will expand with heat and may provide the vibration damping needed.

I have really gotten very used to it, but may try the Dynamat, I have some left over from a project.

The cab cover in my 77 Bronco flexed so bad with the windows down it sounded like lightening inside. So I added some JBWeld between the stiffeners and top metal and used a small jack with 2x4s to add pressure. Took me two weeks to do this all around, but it worked.

My 3rd gen's hood flexed way worse than my '16. I just got used to it. This hood barely moves by comparison.

I've had a lot of Toyota 4WD trucks, and my 3rd gen 4Runner (no skewp), 2011 Tacoma (no skewp), and 5th gen 4runner (skewp!) have all done it. Now my 80 series Land Cruiser didn't because 80 series. Nothing flexed on that vehicle - i think the whole thing was machined out of billet.

I've honestly never really noticed or given two craps - it's a wuss passenger that has alerted me to it (usually alarmingly...) in each vehicle. OMG, your hood is flexing! OMG!

Hey of course they were saying basically the same thing. Difference is one was being earnest and the other was being an ass.
Back to hoods: What causes the flexing? Wind right? Anyone thought to check the hood latch adjustment and hood stops on each side to make sure everything is tight? There is a seal up front and if wind is getting under it that could be the cause. Everyone wants to blame the sheet metal but in reality if everything is set up right you shouldn't have problems. I had to adjust my stops because when closed you could still push a corner of the hood down a bit. Thoughts?

Thanks. I adjusted the hood stops and that eliminated most of the hood vibration.

Have a '15 LE and it flexes quite a bit, almost anytime over 60mph. I'm used to it but it gets pointed out anytime I have a passenger. I also don't see how adjusting hood stops or latches could help alleviate the problem. The hood is closed solidly, it is the sheet metal that is bending in and out from wind deflection.

The genuine TRD hood scoop is integrated into the hood, not a stick on, so it will add some strength. I have a '17 TRD Prowith the scoop and don't notice any flex at highway speeds but I have driven several SR5 rentals and did see flex at highway speeds but it's not nearly as bad as some other cars. I can't recall exactly what but I think it was some sort of Ford SUV, maybe an F150 but going through the car wash and at the end when the air dryer was hitting the hood it flexed so much it looked like a piece of fabric in the wind.

To clarify, thats is actually a Trail hood on the TRDP : :biggrin1: and they still flex just not nearly as much.
