2015 TEP Fuel Pump Stuck On

Hey guys,

last week i picked up my 2015 TEP and tonight i noticed my fuel pump was running after the truck had been sitting for 5hours. The key was out of the ignition, and there was nothing else on, just the buzzing noise from the pump. After i inserted the key, turned the ignition on, then off, the pump turned off.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have an appointment to tint my truck at the dealers next week, we'll see what they say.

likely your evap/emissions pump and not your fuel pump.....but if your pump was ever stuck on there should be a fuse to pull.

Page 8 of your Owner's Manual under the "Forward" section states:

"Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound
coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel
evaporation leakage check and, it does not indicate a malfunction."​

It is the EVAP system performing a self-test after the vehicle has timed out after being Key Off for about 5 hours, its perfectly normal. :thumb3:

Is this specific to the newer years? I have never noticed this on my 2010 TE.

Its been a standard thing for Toyotas since around 2003-ish on some models, but pretty much across the board by about '07 for the type of system they use.

[Vehicular Homeless]

A few weeks ago, I was out in the woods sleeping in the back of my SR5. I was sleeping with my head at the rear hatch, and I was awakened in the middle night by the soft humming sound of the evap system purging itself. I was really confused as to what the sound was when I first woke up, I thought someone was setting up camp nearby and was airing up their mattress or something. Within 30 seconds I figured out what it was, but it kept going on and on and on, at least 30 minutes. It really interrupted my beauty sleep that night.
