So the 2016 4 runners are 100% made in Japan vs the 2015 and I assume all the models.prior that are 90% Japan and 10% domestic parts.

Its from the 2015 and 2016 4 runner's window sticker under "Source/Origin".

It has to do with the five speed transmissions, and some other small parts. With production of the 5th gen wrapping up and the five speed automatic ending production. The plant in America has already started making the new 6 speed. they are sourcing everything from Japan at this point While they set up and get ready for the new six speed in the 2017 model.
