2016 4Runner poor quality, early wear

Noticed today that occasional chirping over speed bumps isn't the suspension at all -- it's whatever plastic-based paint they put on the speedbump making a noise when the tires go over it. Common to all cars I think. Some painted road lines make the same noise in my other car at low speeds.

Yep. Steering wheel damage is on you man.

A lot of times it can be what you put on your hands that leads to steering wheel damage. If you use hand cream , work with oils that ar left on your skin, use this antibacterial purell items. All these things over time will help deteriorate trim or leather you are constantly touching.

I don't put anything on my hands as previously stated.


I'll take it in and see what they'll do. This is clearly a decline in quality as none of my prior 4Runners had any of these issues.

My 14 TE has 48k miles and has sorry a good number of those running forest service roads in 4x4. It has none of the issues you list.

No lotions, no oils or chemicals, no flood damage, no salt, etc. All of the usual culprits are absent.

I use Cockpit Premium to clean the interior and have never had a problem with it.

The running board steps are a dealer add-on. Shouldn't all of this be covered under warranty?

Stop stabbing out your blunts on the steering wheel.

Everything else looks like dealer add ons that last as long as it takes for you to finish signing the paperwork.

Running board looks like a rock chip from driving.
Steering wheel is damage, possible burn mark.
Toyota entune radios are a joke

good luck getting them to fix or cover this stuff

I'm happy to report that my pleather is holding up just fine.

Only problem I have with mine is it's a Lush !

Damn thing drinks more than that hot little blonde I knew back in 85.

When they installed those TForce add-on, who knows if they're hands were oily or they absorbed adhesive into the steering wheel and they just touch it up and it flaked overtime.

There’s 10 bushings back there. Drop your spare, get some silicone spray and a 19mm, and chase that mofo down! I had a bushing on an upper link causing a slow speed squeak that’s was driving me nuts off-road. Finally found it. So much happiness

Or embrace the squeaks I guess. Which was my plan B until I finally found it!

2015 with 30k on it, everything is perfect except for my dumba$$ putting some cheap cleaner or something on the steering wheel leather causing it to basically rub off. but only happened in the spot that I mostly drive the car from which is the top of the wheel because I drive like a ganster

exceprts from the owners manual since no one reads it-

leather - vacuum dust, wipe off dirt with damp cloth (5% detergent solution), soft cloth to dry

synthetic leather - vacuum dust, mild soap solution using sponge or soft cloth, allow to soak in a few minutes, wipe off with clean damp cloth.

clean at least twice per year

do not use the following cleaners/detergents:
non-seat portions- organic substances such as benzene or gasoline, alkaline or acidic solutions, dye or bleach
seats- alkaline or acidic solutions, such as thinner benzene or alcohol

so don't armor-all, no aggressive cleaners, etc... just pH neutral detergent diluted and a soft cloth

I had a very similar issue on my low mileage 2016 (was driving me crazy) and found it was the rigid lines (e-brake, I think) that run through some metal guides/rings along the frame just in front of the rear tires. When the suspension moves it pulls these lines and they rub on the bare metal making a squeaking sound.

Take a quick look and you’ll see what I mean. I sprayed some lubricant on both sides and the squeak was immediately gone! Try it - may work for you.
