Similar power numbers, but should be more efficient, and the 3rd gen Tacoma is lighter than the 2nd gen, which is already lighter than the 4runner.

I noticed the Tacoma is lighter that the 4runner. I can see that that might help with the GVCW but is a lighter vehicle pulling a heavier trailer more of a liablility in terms of safety? Or does the longer wheelbase of the Tacoma compensate for that? Thanks for your input.

I don't know enough about towing to answer that. Though, I feel like is towing were a concern of mine, I would get something bigger.
