Yeah I called my local dealer and they wanted $195. I think I am going to attempt my own version from the thread I posted a couple posts above this. Looks easy enough. I am going to grab some of those snips the TSB mentions to make the cut and a sanding block on the way home. Glad it's 10 degrees out today. My garage may be about 20 degrees warmer than that If I am lucky.
I am not familiar with those snips. Why does the TSB say to use the modified painted version of the snips and say to use the painted side against paint on the bumper? Are one sides of the jaws different or is that painted side some form of protection against the paint on the bumper?
It seems to me that they may have ground one face of the nippers back a bit so they would sit flush against the foam tape while making the cut. I can't see any dealer going through that procedure, but it does seem the proper way to do the job. I'm sure those nippers are readily available in the nearest Home Depot, and a careful hand could do the job just as well.
