2020 model issues/observations

So I have had my 2020 for 3 months/5000 miles already, had 2 questions regarding the following:

1) My brakes squeak a lot especially during humid/wet days if the vehicle has been sitting for a while, the dealer said that it was normal and the noise goes away after a while but I just find it to be really annoying. My next service appt is not for another 5K miles which is about 3 months out, any suggestions on how to resolve this squeaking issue short of taking it back to the dealer again?

2) Rear glass defroster doesn't seem to do a very good job, it only clears like a half inch wide strip for every line that goes across the glass. Is this normal for the 5th gen?

Thanks

After 300 miles all is well on my end. No issues to report.

Aside from adjusting with the dimmer switch, you can also change the theme/color scheme of the screen. I forget exactly how to get there, but you can find them in the settings somewhere. There are two light themes and two dark themes. I have mine permanently set on the black/blue theme, even for daytime use.

Yeah use the small vertical dial to the left of the steering wheel. It'll easily dim your main screen as well as your cluster to your liking.

Thanks guys!

Welp, adjusting that vertical slider on the left of the steering wheel does wonders with the cluster but nothing to the head unit. It’s stuck in super bright mode no matter what unless I click Menu > Display and change it manually.

I believe this was mentioned in an earlier quote but you can change your theme setting which is the display/font color. Menu/Setup/General/Theme Settings. One of the first things I changed. The white is borderline obnoxious.

Yep, that's all done, been on dark theme since day one. I guess I am losing my mind. Funny, I work in tech, but can't figure out how to get this head unit to auto-dim when it gets dark outside :D

If I remember correctly, the little slider wheel thing has a soft stop before it clicks down to its lowest setting. Try that if you haven't done so already.

Same thing, no dice. I really appreciate the help. I'm starting to think I should try when the sun goes down, maybe I'm just not seeing it in the bright summer days. If that's the case, it seems pretty subtle.

If you guys are seeing a big difference in the brightness of the screen in daylight, maybe I need to ask the dealer.

Have you looked into this? My $5 mod in 5 mins.

There is a specific part number for the 2020 models that unfortunately is a good deal more expensive than previous MYs. I got mine from Ebay and it works really well even though it may be technically a Lexus part??

My TRDORP did not have the automatic adjustment of the screens/gauge brightness. Not sure if Pros/Limiteds do. Just FYI, sensor does not seem to work when the click wheel is at the max brightness setting...has to be slightly lower

Yeah, the screen, as well as instrument cluster, should both dim when you turn on the headlights.

I tried to set the brightness low with the headlights on, then high with the headlights off, thinking it may save the setting for the two different modes, but no luck. I will end up calling the dealer :)

I have seen that thread, but I would hope/think I have that feature in my Pro. I will keep the sensor just below the "click" and see how things go tonight, otherwise I'll pull up that sensor on the front of the dash to make sure the it actually is there!

I've got the steering wheel vibration on my new TRD Off-Road starting at around 55MPH. Even with new Discoverer AT3s. I'll get the tires rebalanced again. Any other ideas? There's a service bulletin out there on the issue, but no resolution...

It worked! So I put the vertical light control to the left of the steering wheel just below the click, then adjusted the brightness of the head unit. I noticed the head unit “saved” this brightness value. When I clicked up on the vertical light control, it went bright, when I put it just below, it auto-dimmed. Basically both sides of the setting were stuck on “bright”, which I have now fixed. Thank you!

I load up some gas jugs to fill up at the station, get in and start the truck. Thought I'd better double check the strap holding the jugs so I get out and walk towards the back. Three loud beeps. I open the tailgate, three more loud beeps. When I close the tailgate, yet another three loud beeps. WTF Toyota, the nannies are ridiculous.

I would be happy with all beep turned off. Never had one help me ever!!

Two issues I haven’t figured a way around.
1) How do you roll down or up the rear window from the outside of the vehicle with the vehicle running?
2) With the headlight in the auto position, when I shut off the vehicle and open any door or hatch and leave it open, the headlights never shut off unless I turn them off on the stalk. Why is that?

Try leaving it for a while. They might automatically shut off after some time. I know other vehicles do that.

1) I don't know if you can if you don't have the buttons on the back. If its a key based one then you'll need a separate key to do so. Valet key should work. There might be some aftermarket mods that you could get that will do this with a button push.

2) There should be a section under vehicle settings that allows you to adjust the lights and the time it takes for them to shut off once the vehicle is turned off.
