Ugh... White is the only color I really considered. After 20+ years with this land cruiser that I regret selling, the white 4runner with Toyota grille is the closest thing I can get...

No complaints with the paint on the '94 cruiser but in the end couldn't keep up with the rust underneath.

My 99 SR5 has a good paint job. My 2011 and 2020 Trail/ORP not very good. Shoreline blue and Barcelona Red real thin. 99 is Desert Dune Metallic. I think they learnt how to apply minimal thickness like US mfgs.

Kinda amazed that most of the problems here can be solved by reading the manual.

If you've owned a past 4Runner, not much changes. Just newer and a little nicer.

The only complaint I have is why didn't the LED headlights make it for the 2020 year and fog lights?

Otherwise I love it.

only complaint I have is I've got a nightshade and wish more tire companies made a 245/60R20 tire. But solved that by getting TRD 17" wheels.

Dawg...your post has me concerned. Have a 2012 Pro on order. Also super white. Wonder if this paint issue applies to all colors or specific to white. I would imagine they would be the same (except maybe metallics) but haven't heard anyone else with a complaint other than the thread about Toyota covering some white paint issues (not related to easy scratching though).

My '19 Pro in Attitude Black scratches incredibly easily. I just hit 11k miles in almost a year and a half and I've already done a full paint correction twice and had the front passenger fender resprayed after a plastic shopping cart brushed against it right behind where my PPF stops. I'm seriously considering extending my PPF. Having this quality paint on a 4R is like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Toyota has to sprinkle in minor incremental changes and stretch out their 12yo platform somehow to keep things from going stale. That can be the only real reason I can think of.

I'd even make the argument that the LED head/fog lights needed to be in the 2014 refresh.

I’ve got a 2020 nightshade and have read that the fuse box under the driver and the one under the hood are different than the 2014-2019s. The low beam plug for the new LED headlights seem different from 2020 to 2021. Seems like a lot of work for Toyota to make a single year change in wiring without making all the electrical changes at once.

From what I've seen, it looks like the plug is different. They probably won't be plug-and-play

Okay, I have a 2020 now after have 2 previous 04 runners. I have a few questions I hope to have answered if you all can

1.) my radio volume automatically adjusts. It seems to start out louder (like I like it) and the. Gets lower although the volume level on the radio doesn’t change. Any ideas?

2.) what have the taller people (6ft plus) found the best way to configure your seats? This isn’t quite as comfortable as my old 04. Seems less spacious honestly.

Still have to search this thread, so direct me if already discussed, but my only issue is that the passenger front headrest is rattly as can be, anything over perfect smooth road, and it makes a bunch of noise, thought i had it fixed with bending the prongs a bit, but its back.

Anyone else?

There's a setting for speed volume control ...makes it get louder the faster you go.:drummer:

Removing the cellular phone

New owner here. I've read you can pull the fuse for the DCM which also disables the microphone for hands-free calling. Has anyone tried to find and remove the cellular device itself so the car can't phone home anymore?

Turn off the service. There is a lot written about it in the owners manual and there is supposed to be a tag on the roof console.
