22RE Burnt Valve??? Give me your thoughts

Did compression test this morning 180-170 on all 4 so thats good. But I know that will not tell me if I have a bad valve. I shot some video of motor and exhaust for you to check out.

One other thing that happened, my check engine light has been on since I got it, thought it was due to O2 sensor not being in place (no cat) but when I was doing the compression test I disconnected the distributor and removed the fuse for the EFI. When I hooked it all back up the check engine light was off but once I got out on the road and took off it came back on.

I am trying to see if this does sound like a burnt valve.

Actually a bad valve on any cylinder will cause it to not make compression. Since you have compression on all cylinders I would look at other things.

Why not check to see what your code is? Don't guess on the code, all that will do is lead you the wrong way and upset.

I found the instructions it says to jump TE1 and E1 I dont have a TE1 in my box.

2 quick flashes then about a 2 sec pause then 1 flash so I am reading this as 21 which would be the O2 sensor. Would the O2 not being there cause it to skip?

Guess I am going to have to get someone to do a leak down to figure out for sure if its the valve.

You have to have an o2 sensor. Without it the computer doesn't know how rich or lean the burn is. Yes this will cause bad times with the engine.

Nate is right. The O2 sensor not being installed will give a CEL for your O2 sensor.

However, I have ran without an O2 sensor for about 1500 miles before I put one in my motor. The motor ran fine but it just got horrible gas mileage. The O2 sensor is mainly for emissions. It will tell your ECU if you're running lean or rich and will adjust your gas usage accordingly.

Where is the O2 sensor located mine did not have any exhaust system past the manifold when I got it I had a muffler in stalled but no cat, if memory serves the o2 should be between the manifold and cat?

My o2 is on the lower manifold.

85-86 models have the o2 sensor on the exhaust manifold. 87-89 models have the o2 sensor on the exhaust pipe next to the transmission.
