hello all, I have been lurking for months and reading all about tire/lift combos. I have the DS (top and preload) 2.5/1.5 on order and am trying to figure out what size tire. I like the thinner tire but would like to see some pics from the front head on. Member tenguns had the 235-80-17 but that was back in 09 and I cant find any update from him? I have searched and searched for more picks and actual experience with this size and dont think im going to find any. the BFGs in this size are much cheaper than the cookie cutter size. Does anyone know how the 235-80-17 looks with spacers? Thanks for any info and I have spent a month searching this..so search bar wont help me..;-)

Well, I guess nobody else has thought of this size. I just ordered the BFG and should have them by the weekend. Hope they handle better than the 265-70-17 i had put on. Ill post pics after install.

I am really interested in seeing these on. I wouldnt do spacers. I like a more narrow track. Any pics?

Just got them on Friday. Did lift this AM and had the alignment done this afternoon. I LOVE the 235-80-17. It tracks so much better than the 265-70-17 Rock Mountain tires I had!! Should be better in snow and it just handles so much better I think. Not a very good pic. I will take some from the front so you can see how narrow they are. I did put the Spidertrax spacers on, its still a narrow track. Without spacers tires sit completely in wheel well. I whole heartedly recommend this size and this tire with out a doubt!!

heres another pic from front. I purchased tires from Discount Tire here locally. I initally bought the Falken RM ATS 265-70-17 and had really bad "wandering" at highway speed. Felt like treads were following all grooves?? Discount had no problem swapping them out for me. Great service for sure.

I thought it looked ok without them. Thats a personal choice thing so its hard for me to say. I think it looks perfect with them and I have to say I like the tires more and more everytime I drive the runner.

I dont know. I thought the same until I saw them on a land rover like I sued to have. I like them. I also think they are better off road for what I m doing. My typing really sucks....I have had to go back and correct nearly everything I have typed so far....sorry for the interlude.

I think with a more narrow tire in rocky conditions and on fire roads, there just seems to be a little more maneuverability. I am probably nuts, but that is the way it seems. Also, I think if a truck is lifted around 3" it doesn't look bad at all, once they get them on mine, if it looks dumb, I will have them change them back out to something else.

But, I do appreciate your opinion and anyone else's, so bring it!!

+1, took 4runner out on the trails yesterday and the tires were great! im sure the 265-70 would be good as well but I love everything about this size. They track great on highway and on the trails. Looks are a personal choice and they look great to me. I am patiently waiting for the snow to fly so I can test them in the snow. Let us know how you like them once you get them. The handleing was night and day difference for me but I think I had some issues with the tire I had on prior??
