255/80/17 ?

I am looking to get the bfg KM2's and I tried to find it in the 255/75/17 and all I could find was 255/80/17. I looked on the tire size calculator and it says the 255/80/17 is a 33 inch tire and the 255/75/17 is a 32. Should i have any problems fitting the KM2 with a 3/2 cornfed and FJ springs on all four corners, and I wanted to get spidertrax as well..? and does anybody think lifting the front 3 inches plus putting on the FJ springs is too much lift for a 2WD? and if so, then should I just get the 2/1 and use the FJ springs or get the 3/2 and forget the FJ springs? sorry for all the questions, I'm about to pull the trigger and buy everything and I want to make sure I'm making a good purchase and dont screw up my 4runner. thanks for the help!

this is bullshit i hate this thread sometimes.. I asked a few SIMPLE questions and not one person answered. i have only posted 26 times since march because all I do is search. but I have never even heard of this size tire and thought MAYBE somebody on this forum would be a little more knowledgeable than I am. Also, I am not sure if the setup I am planning on doing is too much lift for my 2wd runner. I only posted a few threads on here and it never gets posted on more than a few time, I don't know why I thought this time would be any different. Thanks *******s :-)
 
I went to 4Wheel Parts & they said 255/75/17 KM are discontinued.

They said they are coming out w/ 265/70/17 KM2s.
 
thanks for the reply. I knew that if i posted that earlier that I would get some replies with-in the hour, didnt really mean to be a douchebag.. The reason why I was looking for the 255/75/17 is because I have seen threads where people got them for under 200$ a tire, and the KM2 265/70/17 is a lot of $$. Do you think I would have a problem with rubbing if I went with the 255/80?

I usually do not look at this sub category, or I would have answered this earlier.

To the best of my knowledge they do not make KM2's in 255/75/17, however they make the older style KM's in this size- it is what I run on my truck.

You will probably have some rubbing with these on a 3/2 w/ FJ springs, but all it takes is some trimming and you will get rid of that problem. I found that spidertrax actually adds to the rubbing problem, and since I am running spidertrax and slightly wider wheels, my rubbing is worse yet.

As for if a 3/2 w/ FJ springs is too much lift for a 2wd, I do not think so. In the front you should have no problems, the rear however might get a pretty harsh ride since the shocks seem to not handle that much lift very well. I ran a 3/1 w/ FJ springs for some time and it worked great with those tires and stock shocks. I would say try out the 3/2 w/ FJ springs in the front and 4Runner springs in the rear at first and see what you think.

I am looking to get some 255/80/17's for my next tires actually as the 255/75's are pretty small for my current setup. I am running about 3.5-3.75 inches of suspension lift with a 1.5 inch body lift.

PS- I just checked on tirerack and they still have the 255/75/17 KM's for sale at $178 a tire.

Definitely. But with enough trimming you probably would be able to work it out.

I am definitely getting wheel spacers but even when people go to a 285/70/17 they have problems with rubbing with the 3/2 spacer lift and the 255/80/17 is even bigger.. So how much trimming would need to be done? Just the fenders or would I need to chop body mount? After all the research and back and forth deciding on tires I think I might just go with the all terrains..

My guess is you'll need less cutting than the 285's. I doubt you'll need to chop the body mount 'cause the tire is so much narrower.

I hope you do the 255's. Can't wait for some pics and your impression of how it drives.
 
Dude I'm so jealous! I would have gone with these tires but there kinda overkill for me and I'm not sure if they would have fit. I want to see some pics tho so post some as soon as you get them!

We will see how much rubbing they result in. I get slightly more rub than most since I am running spidertrax and slightly wider wheels (so my truck is about 1.75" wider at each side), but a little more than 5" of lift my setup will hopefully keep rubbing to a minimum.
 
Don't mean to "thread jack" but I was wondering if anyone is running the 255/80/17 tire on tundra wheels on a 3rd gen? I'm looking at possibly doing this tire instead of the 285/70/17 because I don't think i'll need to run the spidertrax wheel spacers which saves me money). And are they really that much skinnier than the 285's? Its barely an inch difference i thought.
