255s/285s/Upper Control Arms

So I know that if you put 285s on your vehicle then you need to put on either spacers or UCAs (UCAs being the best).

I am wanting to put 255s on my 96 4r.

Is it necessary to run either since they are 10mm narrower than the factory tire?

My common sense says NO! I just want to double check this by some guys with far more experience than myself.

The only reason you would replace your UCA's or add wheel spacers is because of the width of 285's. Sometimes the 285s and 305s rub the factory upper control arms (UCA's), so to counter that, people either space their tires out or get offroading UCA's that are more low profile and have caster adjustments. This isn't necessary for your application.

Seeing as you will be getting 255's, you will not need either.

I assumed that was the case. I know there are a few benefits as far as alignment goes, but with limited funds saving 500-700 on UCAs is good news!

I'm running 255's and have loads of clearance between the UCA and tire.

just as a reference, you can run 285s on stock upper control arms depending on your wheel with no spacers. If your sticking with stock wheels then this wont work but I'm running 4" BS wheels and i have loads of clearance. I know others get away with 4.5" BS wheels also.
