265 up to 285's

Nice! what a beauty! Do the 285 give you a small lift? I'm not sure but I thought they give you about 1/2 - 1 inch height on your truck? Am I correct in that assumption?

they are 1inch taller which will give you 1/2 an inch in height increase

Thanks Nathan for the info. That is way to much messin for me I just do not have the patience for that type of stuff . If I have any issue with that with my lift either I will have the dealer do it or I'll take the lift off.

I love the look of the lift and the 285's , but honestly I do NOT want any bigger tires but will be forced to with the lift to keep it proportionate . To expensive to drive 25k per year .

thanks man. yea that first pic looks nose high because my driveway drops down in the back.

Are you guys only getting rubbing on 285's if you are going with a mud terrain versus an AT?

How tall are your 4Runners with the lift and 285's, would I be able to still park it in my garage?

I'll let you know how much more mine rubs tomorrow after I get some 285/70R17 Firestone M/T's installed. Currently I'm running BFG All Terrains.

How much are you getting now? Is it when the steering is fully turned? Will it rip off a mud guard while 4wheeling?

With these All Terrains, mud Guards are A-OK, just rubs a small corner of it when turning. Off road no issues.

The new tires, being more aggressive on the side wall and probably a little bit taller will most likely rub the mud guard more. How much I'll determine tomorrow. Worst case scenario, I'll just remove them, They are too short to really work properly anyways.

I might have to move the wheel well inner liner forward a little bit more as well, where it meets the front bumper.

There is a small mod on the fenders that doesn't involve cutting. I haven't done it myself but I've read here on the forums.

I'm thinking of doing a regear to at least a 4.11 when I do lift & airlockers. I figure if they are already in there for the lockers, why not throw on new gears? Am I wrong?

Looking forward to seeing pics of the truck with new shoes! I really liked the look of your 4Runner with the 265 Firestone MTs, so it should look pretty awesome with the 285 MTs now.

Let us know how it rides as well - they're E's so I'm guessing a little stiff?

Currently the ride isn't all that bad, seems just as smooth as the all terrains. I think firestone probably only put 32 psi in them though, I have yet to actually verify, just what was on the paperwork.

They do rub more when turning all the way in reverse. Turning while moving forward seems fine so far.

Looks very tough !! Changes the whole look of the truck . Nice job . Keep us up to speed on how they work on/off road .

After having these Firestone Dest AT's on mine I'm starting to be a little partial to Firestones ....lol.

I really like the look of your 4runner!!

I just purchased a Gen 5 TRD off road and would love to get 2-3" lift and 285's to get this look on my new 4 runner.

I had BFG KO2's on my '12 Tundra but the E rated sidewall made the Tundra bouncy as heck, considering the Falken AT tires on the 4Runner if the BFG's would make this truck bouncy as well.
Anyone have any suggestions for lift? I like Toyotec (They're right down the street from me) but am open to suggestions.

Any major differences between your model that would affect what I want to do, like the kinetic suspension etc...?

Thanks !!

Those tires are gone by now....

While I like the look of my 285's when they wear out I'm going for something a lot narrower. Wider tires seem to float in heavier snow. Plus the mileage thing. 30k on my wide duratracs. They still look good tread wise. Maybe another 20k miles to go then their gone.
