275/65R18 on Daystar 2.5/1.5 Rub

So I bought some Duratracs today and have rubbing in the expected places although the drivers side rubs more than the passenger side. More than what I was told it would.

The passenger side barely rubs but the drivers side touches the body mount. I was told I'd have no rubbing if I removed the mudflaps, which is almost true.

is it normal that the tires would rub more on the drivers side vs the passenger? is there something that could be done to help this besides a body mount chop? am I out of alignment or something?

Start with an alignment! If u spent over or close to 1k on tires def get an alignment! Caster could be off!

I'm hoping the alignment helps with this, I have an appointment for monday morning to get brakes, fluids and an alignment done.

your making me shit my pants, Im getting tires put on next week and I'm dreading your situation.

That's the exact setup I'm running, although I have 1" more lift. I still have my mud flaps on (trimmed) and no rubbing at all. You shouldn't be hitting the body mount with those 275's. As mentioned, get an alignment and have them max out the caster (as much as they can keeping other numbers in spec).

yeah it's rubbing pretty bad, its the body mount on both sides, more on the drivers though. I hope they can fix it during the alignment. I might do a body mount chop if not, a 1/2" body lift might also help.

It only seems to rub when backing out of parking spots, so reversing and turning. going forward it doesn't rub enough for me to hear it at least.

So max out caster, I'll mention that.

driver side sags more than passenger side 90% of the time.

I had to trim a lot of the corners, move the liners forward and still had to trim the flare on the inside. I dont hit the body mount although i am VERY close.

initially I trimmed my mud flaps in the spots it was rubbing but it didn't work out so now I have no mud flaps and its a lot better but I think it still just barely nudges the body mounts when reversing and turning or if I hit a bump while turning at full lock.

it's not so bad now but I have an alignment tomorrow so that might help with that slight rub I have left.

tires feel great though.

I still rub on something, i have no idea what when i back up. On the driver side but i've trimmed all the plastic i can. Ill have to get in there and really take a look. I only have 265/70s for crying out loud.

Got an alignment yesterday, caster was already maxed out.

Still rubbing rear of wheel well and body mount when reversing while turning also when hitting a bump while turning at full lock.

no idea why I'm having issues when others haven't. I know there are at least 4 other members on here, like Ark_Swamp_Rider, HOJeepster and a couple others that have all had this set up with no issues.

if anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. Right now the game plan is a body mount chop, depending how much it costs. A real suspension lift would be nice but not sure if it's in the cards at the moment.

I'm stumped. either the Duratracs I bought are bigger than most peoples or my 4Runner is somehow different.

So as a warning to others thinking about fitting a 32.1" tire with only a daystar lift and spidertrax, be prepared to have to do a body mount chop or upgrade your lift.

maybe during the 06 refresh, the limited edition was changed somehow, I'm pretty sure HOJeepster has a refreshed Sport Edition and his worked fine.

I still have xreas, maybe that has me sitting lower than I should be?

whatever, for some reason I require a body mount chop so that's what I'll do and maybe look into a 1/2" body lift just for the hell of it, every bit helps.

I'll post a pic of the rub spots later, it's still a pretty significant rub.

Can you post your alignment specs? I ask as the last alignment the shop did increased my rubbing substantially. I had no rub, after alignment I have to remove my mud flaps. I am not sure what was adjusted, but my wheels were brought back in the wells (caster??).

Sure, I'll post it tonight.

A local member here has the same setup as you (08 Limited, XREAS, Daystar 2.5/1.5, Spidertrax) with 275/65/18 BFG AT's (which are known to be one of the hardest tires to fit due to their square profile) and he doesn't rub the body mount. He still has the mud flaps on too, just trimmed them.

If all else fails and you don't want to do the BMC, consider a different set of wheel spacers. You can get spacers from Motorsport Tech in either 3/4" or 1", depending on the amount of contact you have these could take care of it.

Yeah, I'm stumped.

Pics.

See the rub marks on the black fender liner as well as on the body mount. Also in two of the pics you can see the tire actually touching the mount while turned full lock on a flat surface.

the last pic is the passenger side.

and then the alignment sheet.

Strange, my set up was no where near that close to the body mount or fender. I'd just get light scuffing while going up inclines and turning. Not sure what to tell you...you could try trimming that plastic fender...but if it's hitting the body mount, you'd have to get that chopped

These are the issues I'd image having if you were running 275/70/18...not 275/65/18
