285/60/r18 tires, would I need a lift?

Hey guys I am new to this website and I just had a question about my 2006 toyota 4runner. I am looking to put brand new tires on my truck and cant decide on going with 265/70/17 tires or 285/60/r18 tires. I know there is a big difference between the 2 and I was wondering if I did go with the 285/60/r18 size since I like the more aggressive stance it gives would I need a lift kit? Or if i didnt lift my truck for the time being would it hurt my vehicle. I know im going to lift my truck either way but I just wanted to know what are you guys opinions and experiences, and which tires would I be better off with?

you know that those 2 tire sizes require different sized rims right? what size rim do you have? or are you planning on replacing the rims too?

i can't be sure about lift recommendations but i'd be surprised if you didn't need a 3/2 at least with the 285's..

Yeah I wasnt planning on changing the rims for now so I appreciate you telling me that also. What size tires would you go with personally?

i run 275/70/17s on my SE using the stock rims. I've got a ToyTec 3" Lift and 1.25" spidertrax spacers.. there are some pics of my truck in this post if you want to have a look:
