I know the mantra here of searching and reading before asking repetitive questions. I get that. I've read through and bookmarked dozens of reference threads on all manner of subjects of interest here.
What never seems to reach any real consensus is the subject of what's actually needed to mount 285's on TRD wheels. Some say a 2" spacer lift up front will get it done with no rubbing or further modifications needed. While others seem to feel that even with a 2" spacer lift, additional modifications are required. Some minor, some not so minor.
Some believe the TRD OEM wheels are not appropriate for 285's (too narrow) while others disagree and feel TRD OEM wheels are fine for 285's.
I have a 2020 TRDP and simply would like the simplest rout to 285's. I live in FL, so there are no heavy duty articulation requirements (in my area any way). Flooding? Yes. Dirt/mud? Yes. But nothing that requires anything more than the TRD suspension as is. I just want a better stance, a little height and larger tires. I had 275's on my 13 Trail but obviously the math changes with a new tire size.
I had been thinking about a 2"/1" Cornfed spacer lift and adding 285's to my TRD OEM wheels but for the life of me, can't seem to find any real consensus to that combo.
Anyone?
