285 Tire Owners - Chime In on your setup

Hey all,

With my 07 SR5 v6, I ran FJ Bilsteins/Springs with a day star 2.5/1.5 spacer and was able to run my 285/70/17 duratracs with spacers to clear the UCA's.

I'm replicating that setup now on my 03 Limited v6, and got a set of FJ springs and rear daystar spacers from an fj buddy who upgraded his susp. After reading thru the forums, I'm wanting to just get a new set of 5100's and adjust the heights. My question is, and correct me if I'm wrong, to achieve the same result, I need to adjust the fronts to 2.5 and rears 1.75 with rear spacer....add a wheel spacer and should clear 285's.

Again this setup is new to me as I've never owned a set of adjustable 5100s. Wanting to get all my ducks in a row before starting the lift.

I'm currently running 285/70/17 KO2 and I have adjustable bilsteins upfront with Tacoma TRD pro sport springs with a toytec spacer.. in the rear I was gonna do the FJ springs and stock shocks with a spacer (which I still have if you want it for $20 plus shipping *new*) but I found a kick A deal on toytec HD springs and got toytec boss shocks bc I just decided to save myself the hassle and do it right (I had no clue if my suspension was good or not) but I love it.. yes I rub a tad on full turn but did minimal trimming... mud flaps came off and the inner liner were my biggest issues, need any pics or question just ask! Also I have offset wheels when I did this so no need for a spacer... this is my ride how it sits now (need to raise the front bc the rear didn't settle as much as anticipated)

Yeah there was a local selling a 16/17 Tacoma TRD spring/shock set for $100, but these FJ Trail Springs were free, so can't beat that. So you're running the tacoma trd springs WITH Spacer? The 1.5 I assume? What setting are your 5100's at?

I'll have to see what it's set at currently.. But yea can't beat free stuff and I got mine for $40... but I guess I got lucky! And yea 1.5 I'm pretty sure! I just told the guys [MENTION=115941]Apex Overland[/MENTION] what I was Doug and they hooked me up

To my understanding from reading, adding a spacer on the front is pointless if you set the 5100's to the top setting. Then adding the spacer in the rear to prevent rake. Adding a spacer to the front will just cause everything to get over extended causing damage over good.

That is probably true but from what I've heard (could be wrong) it sacrifices ride quality when you set it to the top notch, I'm in a ton of 4R groups and all of the guys I've talked to with the exception of a couple don't have it on the top, and also it's because my springs I think.. my springs won't give me a full 3" lift... I could've done it without them but I just don't wanna sacrifice ride quality so I threw them on there. I didn't do too much research on my own tbh I just had a guy tell me what I needed and I ordered it then swapped the back out for what I thought would be best
