You have a sweet 4runner. Would be interested to get more info on it.

Is anybody running 315s w/out spacers on 4.5 backspace wheels or close to it?
4.5" BS and stock UCA's is going to be hard to clear 35's without spacers.

I have spc UCAs
Yeah, I wouldn't even think about anything other than OEM for those parts.
Oh really? I've gone over Mt. Hood several times since the 35's- loaded down with 2 big dogs, wife, and gear- 70 all day no problem. Calculated 16-17mpg too. Don't get me wrong- I'd love a S/C and more power- but it isn't annoyingly doggy.
That's good to hear. I'm considering going up on my next set of rubber. Since moving from Colorado to Seattle, I'm not too concerned about the lack of power either. I would still want to find that size as a D-load rated, but I'm not sure that's possible. Mine's got plenty of power all loaded up with 33's. Having all other steering/suspension/brakes/engine components in top working order makes a huge difference.
It's one thing not to rub while driving on the pavement...Can it be said while stuffed and offroading?
I see too many trucks on here with 315's / 35's that look like they've never hit the dirt. I wonder why waste the money on tires, gas, and just being slow all for looks? 35's are great for actual off road function, but they suck for just about everything else on our 4Runners.

It's their property....not mine. They can use it however they wish.
People's versions of "offroading" vary greatly.....I know some very nice overlanding folks that consider driving on dirt roads that could literally be traversed by just about any car with even a modicum of ground clearance and stopping to brew coffee as an offroading "adventure". That's their thing....nothing wrong with it....though I will admit I didn't appreciate being told we were going "wheeling" only to find out we'd be doing a mobile Starbucks impersonation while driving a powerline trail, LOL.![]()
At the other end of the spectrum, I know guys that don't care about body damage and will take a full bodied rig through some of the nastiest trails out there and when they are done, their vehicles aren't even recognizable as a certain make b/c the are just wrinkled up raisins with doors that either can't open or no doors at all.
Again, it's their choice and property, not mine. I don't begrudge either group b/c that's not my intended use or I wouldn't want to own something that looked in that poor of shape.
Honestly, my 4Runner build is more about seeing what I can make on a lower budget than it is about ultimate offroad capability. I doubt I'll run anything harder in it than Highway to Hell and I'd like to be able to keep the body panels in tact so it doesn't look beat to hell. But that's just me.
There's a saying in AZ: You can tell who actually 4wheels their trucks by looking at the wheels. No rock rash....they don't wheel it on anything "serious" (whatever that means). It pretty much can't be avoided here.
Wish I could like this 100 times!
Completely agree. Loved your broken Arrow trail. Jeep Tour guys was saying they would never bring nice rigs like ours on that trail because they could get damaged. We laughed and I said it's fine because we have skills. Trail was a cake walk on 33s
