285's/manual tranny question.

I'm looking to get 285's in a couple weeks. I'm wondering what other V6, manual owners who are running 285's think of how their trucks run with stock gearing? I have a friend who thinks putting 285's will make the truck feel like I'm starting in 2nd gear. Not sure this is true so I thought I'd ask those who have done the tire upgrade already. What do you think?

Anyone else with a 5spd and 285 with stock gears like to chime in? From the majority it sounds like it's not that big of a difference taking on the 1-2" shift from 265/70-75s to 285/75s.

According to this J money hates his 5spd/285s on road and off....
