2x 2017 Limiteds on dealer lot, but with different tires from factory

My dealer has several 2017 Limiteds on its lot. Some ship from the factory with Bridgestone Duellers, while others ship with Yokohama Geolanders. All have the 20" OEM wheels. Any insight on why this might be? Any insight on which are better?

A smart mfgr does not rely on a single supplier for tires. Which oem tires are on a specific vehicle is the very least of your concern, you'll never get a definitive answer on here between the two. Move on.

Better for what purpose? You can go over to tirerack.com to get a bunch of opinions. You could also ask the dealer if they'd be willing to do a deal swapping out the rims and tires for whatever combination you'd like. I got rid of my 20"s on day 1. No regrets...

Not very insightful. You've got 2017 vehicles arriving at the same dealer within weeks of one another. They arrive with different tires. Sure I would expect a manufacturer to outfit new vehicles with tires from a variety of manufacturers (depending on vehicle, model year, and trim) but I'd expect consistency within a particular model year and trim level, especially when the manufacture locations and dates are the similar.

I can't speak for the Duellers, but these Geolanders are good all around tires (if you aren't expecting to go rock crawling and such). And good for 60-70k.

Without knowing the model of the Deuler I can't comment on that. The Geolanders on my 15 limited are amazing so far. Great wear and good in the show (assuming you have experience with snow).

I had a Deuler AT on my Wrangler and it also wore great.

If you have both models, go to tirerack.com and look up them up. They have great customer reviews and ratings.

Suggest you check the spare ,especially if you plan on a 5 tire rotation. Have seen a different brand spare on various new vehicles in my dealers showroom.

You can't really do a 5 tire rotation anyways with the spare unless you plan on dismounting and remounting the tire every time, isn't the spare wheel bright yellow on a Limited?

Actually your answer is is in his post. Manufacturers will test a couple different tires for an OEM tire and use a couple of them - for each specific model and sub model. This way, if there is a shortage of one, the others can be used without going through the testing process. It's a simple backup system. So you have 2 trucks from the same plant, with similar dates, well then at some point around that date they had to switch over. Simple as that, nothing strange going on.

-As to which one is better? I would lean towards the Geolanders, but the reality is that they are both middle of the road highway tires with nothing special going for them. If I were purchasing, I would not let which tires were on it be a major factor. Many ppl just switch them out for something better anyways.

If that's the case then you are the only guy with a TPMS (and your spare is not yellow) in your spare.

Further, doing a five tire rotation will not save you anything after 50K miles.

It is what it says to do in the manual for 20" wheels. I'll pull it off later today and check.

When I take it in to Toyota for the rotation I ask for 5 tire rotation and each time they have rotated only 4.
