3 Inches to Spare

So I have 3 inches of space to the top of my garage with my gobi stealth and GY duratrac 265s. I was planning on 285s next. From what I can tell, that should only add another 0.5 inches in height to my vehicle, correct? I believe 285s are only another inch in overall diamter, half of which is not on the ground. Or is my logic wrong?

My wife would give me an endless barrage of crap if I came home and could not fit my 4R into the garage.

WOW! I thought it was just my wife!

You have me curious what type of clearance I have if I ever change things up a bit. I know the factory antenna touches the bottom of the door now so I might be limited.

Exactly; I have the Gobi and 285's with 3 inch lift; I still have 2.5 inches to clear my 84 inch high garage opening.

I'm about to lift mine and my wife already mentioned this too. LOL. Average height of MOST residential garage doors is 7' or 8'. I was in the garage door business for years. Trust me, I took this into consideration as I have an odd height of 6' 10". I'll probably be moving in the next 5 years and I definitely want a 8' high garage door on the next house.

Don't forget door differences

Maybe not but if any of you guys have a manual garage door, sometimes the springs take a set and do not lift the door to the same height.

Of course, an opener should in my opinion raise the door completely every time.

An adjustment to the spring tension should take care of that. DO NOT try that yourself. Call a garage door service for that.

My parking garage has a big overhead gas line at 6'2", my trail squeezes right below that. In another thread people confirmed what the height was of the trail, and they were correct. If it did not fit, I was going to have to take the roof rack off so I could fit in my parking space.

That's tight! Got a quick question though, do you know off hand how much taller the Gobi is than stock roof rails? I have been considering upgrading but figured theres no way i'd fit in the garage. Does it make the vehicles top clearance 2" taller? Less or more?
