30" LED Bar Behind Lower Grill

Yes that's the issue I had and why my L brackets weren't exactly 90 degrees. I have plenty of adjustments. I had planned on flipping the angle iron, but the rubber shields were already hitting and didn't want to deform them any further.
 
Well I finally finished my lighting project pretty much exactly to ASR's writeup using the Hanma led lights aside from my switches and their location. I spent many hours (20+) after it was all said and done. Wiring, metal work, switches, soldering and heat shrinking everything all contributed to the extended project time, but I wanted to do a clean install. I know if I went to a shop and paid for labor and used a Rigid lar bar I would have spent thousands but instead kept it under 400.

Here are a few pics of the install. I will get some output shots up later.

Turned out great!!! You should post some pics of those switches too, those were a very nice addition!
 
Would there be a disadvantage to mounting one of these on my roof rack? I'm assuming you guys chose to put them down low because of convenience?

cant you take out the lower grill to get better lighting?
 
[MENTION=73434]Rigliner[/MENTION] removed his lower grill and said it made a noticeable difference (he said probably 25% more output). On the 06+ the lower grill unbolts and comes right off, but on the earlier models there's no way to do this from what I can tell. I'm satisfied with the output, and the whole point of this was to be bolt on with no cutting/drilling into the bumper, so I haven't cut out the lower grill. I have considered cutting it out and trying to rig up a satoshi style replacement, but again, the output is plenty for me and it defeats the purpose of this install.

I started out with mine on the roof but it made way to much noise. That along with being very shaky is the reason I moved it. This was the only thing I could come up with that was completely bolt on.

There was another member who mounted a bar to the factory rails, it was a single row ~40" bar. Turned out very clean and if I didn't already have this setup I'd be considering doing the same.

I just ordered a 31inch from [MENTION=50591]gaterose[/MENTION] and was planning on mounting on roof to factory rails.. you say yours was shaky. I really want it on the roof for visual aggressive look, but would also do this install if the roof isn't properly achievable.

If you want aggressive, get 4 KC lights with rock guards...?

The shaking was due to my Rola rack and the way it mounted to the stock cross bars. If you rigged up a mount that went from the side rails I think it'd be fine.
