30k service at stealership win (kind of)

So today I took my truck in for it's 30k service. This interval doesn't come cheap. As some of you know I had an episode with my wheels at this particular dealer a couple of months back. That never got resolved but I was able to get three free oil changes out of it. Today I was able to use my three free oil change services which amounted to $208 to offset the cost of the $260 30k service. In the end I walked out only paying $62 bucks including tax, lessening the blow to my wallet.

I am currently at 19,000 miles and I'm too lazy to get off the couch to check the maintenance manual. What does the 30,000 mile service include that costs $260.00?:snacker:

Lol what's going on Antman? It's really all of the normal things but they retorque and grease the driveshaft, I think change out the diff fluids, oil/filter change, cabin filter...I saw the list on the dealer's website. Just fill in make and model, how many miles and it shows what is needed. I was actually at 35 when it was done.

Yeah those three would have been nice but I just didn't feel like spending the $260 at the time. Just make sure to really look over your vehicle when it comes out of service and maybe you too could end up with some free oil changes lol.

"stealership" is right. 30k service is nothing special... mostly fluid inspections; replace transfer case fluid for "severe service". sounds like they fücked you again, buddy. :frisky:

I only paid $62. I just don't have the tools or time to do it myself.

i get it. not meant to offend. just that, on paper, they actually charged you $260 and "re-absorbed" the $208 in service credits they'd previously furnished as a courtesy for a situation they failed to resolve to your satisfaction... what dealer is this, btw?

My unusual 30K maintenance

I bought mine as a "Certified vehicle" from a different dealer with 28K miles on it. So about 31K, I asked the local dealer what was covered with the "certification inspection" vs. the 30K service. About all they had left to do was rotate tires and change the oil. I said do it.

They said come back in 2 hours. I left for lunch and returned in 3 hours... and waited... and waited... and waited. After a total of 5 hours, they made some excuse about miscommunication with the mechanic and not having a "truck bay" available that they thought was free. They ran the car through the wash bay, and told me the price was

ZERO!

Said this was our first date and they don't usually operate this way, so they picked up the bill. Saved me abot a hundred in return for that 2 hour wait, and left me feeling better about the stealership than I was an hour earlier.

They put synthetic oil in it, but still put a winshield sticker on for a 5K oil change (no thanks).
