33s on your 4runner? pictures please

hahaha well this thread is fun...

anyway i came up with the conclusion, I will be getting 265/75/r16s

I really need an alignment god i have the worst positive camber known up front

but seriously, thank you guys for explaining all of this to me or I would have been dumb and just went out and spent to much money on a Tire that I wouldnt like.

Maybe if I end up keeping the 4runner later down the road I will install some new shocks and springs, But for now the 4runner will stay with how it is with some new 265s. Its just the perfect SUV for my surfboards, I just wish it was bigger inside. Still tempted to lease a tahoe in a year or two though

please continue to talk and yell at eachother in this thread, I was enjoying it, Mostly the fact that people were clearly wrong about things and just confusing me so bad

:thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks:
-Steve

plus its my 21st birthday so i am off to get hammered drunk, PEACE

Glad it all worked out! 265's are the way to go. You'll like them. Happy birthday, go get sh*tfaced for cryin out loud. :nicethread:

Another shot of the 33s (and a fixed taillight)..

With 31's (265/75)... Wow my truck used to be so clean!

With 33's (285/75)... And a ~4" lift...

With 35's (315/75)... And about 6" total lift...

Chris- I'd love to see a pic of those 35's tucked out! I'm debating, but I like to flex:

so i'm unsure if 35's would be beneficial to my driving style...

Still can't get quite as much on them as you are able to... My extended bumpstops from Sonoran keep me from dropping a coil or tearing anything up! But they still tuck pretty nicely...

Sound advice. Assemble a goal, then modify.

As far as a no hassle option... 265/75/r16 will get you most places 33s will get you... no spacers, no rubbing, no worries. I wheeled all over the country on 265s before I got my tall skinnys.

An OME or similar lift without BL looks very clean on 265/75/r16s (32s).

So Im running 265/75/r16s and the effers rub up front when Im coming down my parking garage going around a corner?!

Interesting. Is you sway bar hooked up?

It would a lot worse with 33s. What kind of rims do you have?

You can always...

Trim back the fender lining on the back of the front fenders and pound the pinch weld underneath until it is flat...

... or if you go bigger, cut the area out and weld in a flat peice in its place. I have always been a fan of trying to trim fenders instead of lift in order to fit bigger tires. It keeps your COG low, and you get more of the benefits of bigger tires without adding as much drag.

Are you 4x4 bigtimeweb?

I am 4x4 - this is a new to me - I just moved to a 3rd gen from a 2nd gen 2wd after an 18 year love affair ;) It came to me with these tires and they look like the stock 16" that come with the 02 sport.

My garage exit is downhill left turns and when I get to the bottom of the ramp to swing around to the next portion of ramp it rubs front lower inside wells (I think) if I go too fast.

I thought they just bought tires that were too big till I read through this whole thread and Mr Leary said that should be a kosher size....

Now I'm slightly depressed :wow:

Is yours an '01 or '02? They sit a little lower and tend to rub with 265/75s easier than earlier 3rd gens. They're probably rubbing the plastic fender liner on the rear of the front fenders at the bottom of the firewall and maybe on the bumper skirt. You could try to trim a little off and hammer the pinch weld flat like those of us who run 33s do.

Yeah 02 - I'll look closer when I get out of my office.

Thanks for entertaining me so I could pretend to work and surf the net dreaming of new tires, gauge faces, LEDs, and non-rubbing tires :trophy:

I'd like to see the proof of that. when you increase the tire size, your engine may have to put out extra 15% of the work to gain the extra 5% distance. that's why the engine has a power curve, not a straight line.

Just an example, friend of mine is a fishing boat skipper. the twin diesel engines run 20 gallons per hour when cruising at 10 knots(11mph). when bump the speed to 14 knots, the fuel consumption jumped to 40 gallon per hour, 100% increase.

Just an example, friend of mine is a lifted bronco driver. The 5.8l windsor engine runs at 15.2 Miles Per Gallon cruising at 75MPH. Before the lift when he cruised at 75mph, he would get 13.6 Mpg. The Fuel consumption increased while being a total of 8 inches taller. (Tire size change from generic street 31x10 on 15 to a BFG KM2 35/12.5/r15)

Riddle me that one. Multiple tank test leaving no information out. filling up at the same spots and calculating all the tire changes... etc etc.

There are other factors to be plugged in to this before anybody can be right.

Driving styles, tires weight, aerodynamics, and tread pattern.

Knowing that its over at this point, I wont go further. But this thread has been hilarious, Its been an honor. Really.

This tread has been dead for a while but...

Would I be stupid to try and fit 33x10.5x15's with just a 1.5" coil spacer lift? They are much narrower than 285's so they should be easier to clear, but
I dont know.
