33x12.5x17 Fitment Questions

I know the notorious size for everyone running 33s is the 285 70 17 in the 17" wheel format.
which in translation is essentially a 11" - 11.5" width tire

i found a deal locally for a set of 33x12.5x17 baja mtz for a decent price.

Ive never really had any complaints about my current 265 70 17 duratracs but always had the itch to go to a 33 someday.

My question is that anyone running a 3" lift with LIMITED flares have fitment issues for 12.5" wide tire?

I have the 5125s in the rear now and because of that the rearend flexs quite a bit and am already seeing VERY minor rubbing at FULL articulation.

I dont mind doing a little cutting and pounding in the pinch weld but if it takes too much to fit the 12.5s ill pass and wait for my oppurtunity to go with the standard 11.5 wide 285s.

Any and all input would be great.

I've got DC mud countrys in 33x12.5x17 on 17x9 rims with a 4.6 backspace. I rub my upper A-arms just a tad when it is fully drooped and the truck is fully locked to one side, and when I mean a tad it is just pretty much rubbing off dirt/dust. There is barely any noticable evidence on the tire itself. Now rubbing on the flares is a different thing. When it is fully stuffed, you will get some rubbing, but take it slow and you won't have to worry about them ripping off. I still haven't smashed in my pinch weld and it hasn't been a problem for me.

I would recommend getting them if it's a good deal. Pros - great offroad traction, looks awesome. Cons - should be heavy and gas milage will suffer, needs rotation often (2500-3000 mile intervals) to keep from uneven wear.

You're definitely going to need wheel spacers with the Tundra wheels. Those tires are pretty wide and won't fit without spacers. That's another thing to factor in.

You will also be crowning those tires quite a bit with a 7.5" wheel. An 8.5 or 9" wheel would be better. But spacers some plastic cutting and hammering the pinch weld would also be in order

sorry forgot to add i actually bought new rims this past week and should have much better specs then the tundras as they do sit inward quite a bit.
i picked up some 17x8 with 4" backspacing.

sorry forgot to add i bought some new rims with better specs to match bigger tires
they are 17x8 with 4" of backspacing so im assuming i should be clear for the upper A arms.

but hmm havent picked them up yet but still rolling around in the back of my head if i should buy them or not.
