3M Protection

Can anyone tell me if the front bumper on the SR5 is made of plastic or metal. I am planning on putting that 3M clear protection on the hood, fenders and mirrors and was just wondering if it was also worth doing on the front bumper.

I know I could easily visit a dealership and check it out myself, but I figured this would be easier and quicker.

It's plastic but I put 3M all over. You will still get acne from the dings and scrapes though the finish/paint (we have a lots of rock chips on our roads in the winter). It's not a rust issue though.

The bumper cover is the first thing that needs to be done imo. That front bumper cover on the 4Runner is huge. The rest of the parts are less effected but still vulnerable.

3M Clear Bra

Yes, do the entire front end. You will be happy with the result. I have my 4Runner and Lexus LS both done and I think it is wonderful and some people give up to a 5 year warranty. I had mine done at a reduced rate through the dealers and they offered in writing a lifetime warranty on it to the original owner against any defect or if it for some reason starts to come off or peel at the edges.

I've had all our vehicles done. I wouldn't recommend it on black. Bugs leave a residue ON the film that almost looks worse than rock chips.

Thanks for the feedback. I think we will do the whole front. It will be either on a silver or magnetic grey. Now time to decide what colour.

A few other places to consider are the door handle cups and the trailing edge of the doors (particularly if you have kids). The latter can help your paint job and others in the parking lot.

$650 for full front, headlights, 1/3 hood, 1/3 fenders, mirrors, door handle cups---all for XPEL Ultimate custom install and not a precut kit.

I got basically the same thing: Full Bumper, Headlights, 24" strip on Hood & Fenders (that's about 1/3), Mirrors, Doorcups; plus also the door edge strips I was referring to, for $740. Without the Edge strips to compare apples 2 apples it would have been $700.

Pretty close match considering I'm probably in a more expensive market here in Edmonton.

Where did you get this done? I am located in Edmonton too.
