3rd Gen 4Runner Lift Information and FAQ's

Sorry for double posting.


So neither Sonoran nor Toytec mention how much travel the shocks have. I'd like to know what the extended and collapsed lengths are for the Bilstein 5100's and the radflo 2.5 external resevoir's for our trucks.

I'd really like to know what to look at in fox/king/sway so I can build a list and compare prices for a full build vs. the kit.

just a little update on 99 highlander springs
using the numbers in the original post

if you plug the rear number in, it will come up as the same that is listed as the 2000 and 2001 right side, yet if you go by that model, that model will come up with a different # for the left
plugging the numbers in for the front highlander, they come back as 2002 TR4r
on the right and the 1999 on the left

So if I get ome 882s and billy 5100s height adjustable struts will I need spacers to get a full 3 inches? I plan to run 891s and lc shocks in the rear, any thoughts? Thanks everyone who has helped put this thread together, it's very helpful!

I am new here and buying a 3rd gen 1997 limited tomorrow. I have read in another thread (i can't find it now) about some local shops here in So Cal. I have called Yotamasters to no availe. They never answer and never return voice mails. Does anyone have any recommendations on places that can help me get a lift kit and advice about bushings and what not. Thank you in advance and sorry if it is a redundant question, I can't for the life of me find that previous thread.:redbrick:

Hey guys so i have been looking at the fj80 rear structs and toyota tundra struts for the front. I'm new to all of this and not sure if I have it all correct. Can someone take a look at the links and see if im good with buying these?

For the "Tundra TRD/LC lift", here is what i just got...

FRONT:
Toytec 3" Eibach Coils (Or Tundra TRD's PN: 48131-AF090 & 48131-AF100, 1 each)
Bilstein 5100's pn: 24-188265 (x2)

REAR:
LC Coils PN: 48131-6A570 (x2)
Bilstein 5100's PN: 33-187174 (x2)

I think OEM Tundra struts would be too low and ride too soft in the front, and LC lift springs for the rear would be too high for the 3rd gen..

I would have to concur with you. Bought 2 different lift kits from you guys and customer service and shipping times are on point. You can't go wrong with these guys. +1 for Toytec :cheer2:

I'm about 99% sure I know what I need, just trying to get a 2nd opinion from people that have more experience than I. I have LC front shocks (according to PN, sold as a "3 inch Toyota lift") and am about to buy the TRD Tundra springs and isolators. I haven't seen any mention of these two parts working in conjunction with each other specifically, lots of bilsteins and tundra struts though. Just checking to see if anyone has run these together. I got LC 7 coils for the rear with the LC shocks. Also got a diff drop kit and adjustable rear panhard with drop brackets.

Thanks everyone. I've read through and searched through the FAQ for like terms but haven't found this exact combo discussed, hope I didn't miss it...

There is actually another thread that talks about others that installed the LC black series shocks. Good read, I'll probably end up installing stock 4th gen struts with my LC 7.5 coils for a more OEM ride hopefully.

I've looked through a bunch of the LC/TRD/5100 threads, but I haven't seen anyone running the LC front Tokicos with TRD coils specifically. I'm searching now and still am not having luck... But guess what... I'M NOT A TOTAL NEWB ANYMORE! haha I'll post up if I can't find anything. Thanks

Hi, all!

This info is great, but a little Greek, too. I had a set of ProCompSS struts w/rear blocks on my 2007 Tacoma. Unfortunately, it was totaled in a 5 car rear-end collision (I was in front). So, I bought an older (2000) 4Runner & would like to use something similar. I don't need extensive lift kits, as I am not off road a great deal. I just need a little clearance. TheProCompSS were perfect for me...even used my existing coils, & accommodated 33" tires. But, I cannot find them for a 2000 4Runner (4WD Limited).

I'll apologize in advance, as I'm sure there are probably 15 other threads on this topic. Any help is appreciated.

Try the Bilstein 5100s. An adjustable strut/shock like the Procomp SS, they have 3 spring seat positions you can choose from that provide approximately 0″-2.5″ lift using your factory coils. The lowest notch provides a stock ride height, the second notch provides 1.25″ lift and the top notch 2.5″ approximate lift.

There is a lot of discussion on here about which model to buy since they don't seem to make a 4runner specific shock. People have used either the Tacoma or Tundra models in the past, but I found a couple of companies with a specific shock # for the 96-02 4runners. I just put some of the Bilstein 5100s (24-248730) on my 99 4runner to replace some worn out shocks. They ride great but I only have about 20 miles on the truck with them installed. They are very reasonably priced at just $98 each. Just do a search on here for "Bilstein 5100" in the 3rd gen area. You will find plenty of reading and you can decide for yourself which model you wanna buy.

Quick question guys, I bought my 4runner second hand, I want to revamp the struts on all 4's since black Friday deals are coming out here pretty soon.
What are the best struts to match these springs up with. I saw the first post and it didnt mention anything about best pairings for the springs and shocks.

Front Springs it said that it was 882x springs?

Rear springs I have 9 LC coils?

anyone have input to what the best pairings for these springs?
