I heard rough country is only for 4WD...

All kits are only made for 4wd trucks
But literally the only difference between 2wd and 4wd is that you don't have to worry about the front diff drop
2wd and 4wd suspension is exactly the same.
Think about it. How much would it cost to manufacture two different types of suspension for the same exact vehicle?
It just makes no sense
You can actually get the adjustable billies and go all the way up if you want cause you don't have to worry about your axles binding of front driveline getting lengthened
I've done it before on a pre runner taco and the kid runs 20x12 moto metal wheels on 33s
Looks gay if you ask me but then again it's not my truck
And it rides like crap cause of the LCA angle but that's a whole different issue
Bottom line your good to get a "4wd kit"

I was going to just get a leveling kit to lift my 4Runner so I can put bigger tires, a lot cheaper and plus I don't go off-roading. Should I still go with Rough Country? It's about double what a leveling kit off eBay would be and what leveling kit you recommend?

Plus I heard they are fairly simple to install.

Top plate leveling kits are all the same so if you can get one for cheap I'd do that.
I thought you wanted a actual front and rear lift
But a leveling kit would work for just wanting to put on some 33s.

You don't have to replace your UCA's with over 2" of lift. It all depends on if you can get your camber corrected for alignment (to my understanding, by no way a mechanical engineer, only Electrical(and only claim because I hold a electrical License) ). I have the Toytec Ultimate Boss with superflex coils and I have it set at 3" of lift. I was able to get my alignment with-in specs and haven't experience any un-even tire wear over the last 15k miles. I thought about getting UCA's and when I swap my suspension in 2018 I will go to new UCA's. Just my personal experience and knowledge

looking for suggestions. wanting minimal lift 0-2" but have front/rear added weight. winch and bumper/cargo drawers, tire carrier, hi-lift in the back. it seems the heavy duty springs give you higher lift, and lower lift are for light duty. i'm looking for the opposite. thanks for any help.

Anyone know where to get the tundra bilstein 5100s (pn24-188265) ordered a set and amazom sent me the new part number and the bushing is redesigned and will not work with my speedy lift setup

Will Tundra coils with Billies on the first perch match up well height wise with LC 7 wraps in the rear? I don't want LC 8 or 9 wraps, too tall for what I want to do. Thanks.

FJ C coils and shocks on a 3rd gen

Is it possible that after looking at all 40 something pages that I missed a part that says that FJ Cruiser coils and Bilstein shocks will not work on a 3rd gen? I found a set for sale for $180 and 70k miles on them on Craigslist.

Great post! Just finished reading all 41 pages.....I think I'll need to re-read it, but this time with a pen to take notes.

Still not sure what direction I want to go. Originally was thinking a 3 inch lift, but now leaning towards about 2 inches. I'd like to avoid having to put in new uca's and/or panhard bar. I'm not sure if I fully understand when the panhard bar becomes necessary. I'd like a set up that looks good, but also allow some light off roading but still have room to grow into if I start to get more ambitious. I own a 02 SR5 Sport with 158000 miles. I bought it in August.

My other question is which to save up for first. A suspension lift or all-terrain tires. When I bought it the previous owner had just put on new HT tires. 265/70/16. I would like to get 265/75/16 tires but I don't know which I should save for and get first.

I would like to know that if I do the FJ80 front coil to my '97 4runner, will my nose sit lower? Do I need to add suspension to the front as well?

Picked this thing up back in September in Virginia, and just drove it as is until December when I moved up to Maryland. Once I got up here started studying up and stockpiling parts for my lift. Below is what I've got going on.

- Tundra 5100's on all four corners
- 3" Toytec/Eibach Front Springs
- 3.75" Toytec Superflex Rear Springs
- Fat Pat's 1" Body Lift
- 305/70/16 Toyo Open Country MT's
- 16x10" -38 Black Rock 997 Type 8 Wheels

How I purchased it..

I recently picked up a '97 4runner with what I thought was stock suspension and a sagging rear. Now that I measure I'm getting 22" hub to fender on the front, 20" rear driver, and 21" rear passenger. There are Bilstein 4600's for a 4runnerall around and no markings on the front or rear springs.They look very similar to OME 881's but if anyone can confirm that would be great.

When I replaced my stock suspension last Spring, none of my Springs had markings (they may have been worn off over the years). The rear DS spring should be taller and my replacement OME906's were marked. Overall, I gained about 1.5" rear (I had a .5-.75"sag) Can't remember the stripe colour, and I don't think the fronts were marked. I replaced my front springs with OME880's and gained 1/2". I ended up with .5" +rake DS and .25" +rake PS, with an overall .5-1" lift roughly.
Your numbers look very much stock. I don't think you have OME front Springs, my OME's had flattened Spring ends. It appears the PO just replaced
the shocks, 4600 are the stock replacements, they are designed with travel for stock Springs--- if you had 881's which would, I believe provide a 2" lift, I would expect to see 5100 Billies, they are designed for greater travel.
