Yes, you can use them and they'll be just fine. The coils we use on the rear come from the front of a FJZ80 Landcruiser, but you must use the rear shocks from an FJZ80 on the rear of the 3rd gen 4Runner.

I see that you answered this question with needing the FJZ80 rear shocks. Am I able to use the OEM 4runner shocks with the 8 coil springs or will it be to short?

they will be too short. they might bolt in but you would not have any down travel and the ride would be bad

Im confused by the ARB vehicle application guide. it states the 890 as medium load. while the 906 as heavy load. both states of 2 inch lift. im highly confused on which is the right one? im only looking to have stock weight and a 2 inch lift.

I've researched for months but haven't come to a straight answer: what is the best way to refresh a stock runner? Not looking for a lift but would like to keep that option open in the future for a small 1" lift maybe. I have a '97 with what looks like a little bit of butt sag, not too much. The shocks are shot. Would 5100's on stock springs be good? Then I see there are 5100's for 4runner, Tacoma and Tundra... If not on stock springs, then what do you suggest? Looking for some off road capability but mostly just for a comfortable ride on gravel roads and over bumps, nothing too crazy. Then there is front vs. rear to make it more complicated... the problem is there is information overload with suspension, I could read for days and people say totally different things.

And [MENTION=119226]reelamin[/MENTION] says Bilstein customer service ***** **** ******* ***** and the kits are missing some bushings so you have to reuse your old ones or order new ones separately, which makes it all more "interesting".

What can I do with these model 5100 with a 3rd gen

Ok I got a real newb question. I was looking to do a small budget lift just 2" nothing too crazy. Rather than a kit I decided to go the tundra coil route. So I'm piecing together a kit. Will these work on my 99 4Runner limited. I'm new to all this but eager to lean. I bought these 5100 under the impression they were all the same. When I research the part# I find that it's saying these were made for the 2nd gen. Can I use these model bilstien for a 2" lift. Thanks in advance

Picked this thing up back in September in Virginia, and just drove it as is until December when I moved up to Maryland. Once I got up here started studying up and stockpiling parts for my lift. Below is what I've got going on.

- Tundra 5100's on all four corners
- 3" Toytec/Eibach Front Springs
- 3.75" Toytec Superflex Rear Springs
- Fat Pat's 1" Body Lift
- 305/70/16 Toyo Open Country MT's
- 16x10" -38 Black Rock 997 Type 8 Wheels

How I purchased it..

After 5100's and Toytec Springs

After the addition of the Body Lift.. (how it currently sits)

I sure am partial to the white 4Runners. Yours looks great!

I'm new to 4Runners (just picked up my 01 last month) and am looking at lift options. Just want to understand the Tundra 5100 thing - the front shock itself at the lowest spring seat setting doesn't provide any lift, but the Toytec 3" kit uses springs that are taller to gain the lift, correct? Are Tundra TRD springs the same as the yy/yb springs?

When y'all buy FZJ80 springs, are you typically ordering new springs or searching junkyards (if you're not getting them from IH8MUD, etc)?

little help please. I have a 1999 sr5 4wd..My understsnding is that my stock coils are the "tallest" of the 3rd generation years. I was planning on putting bilstein 4600 or 5100 (adjustable) shocks in the rear and the monroe quik-strut in the front. The monroe quick strut comes with the spring and shock and fits all 3rd generation. My question-will the spring that comes with the quick strut lower my front since i have the 1999 year "tall" springs? I am not planning to lift at least initially. Thanks in advance and I welcome any input.

I've been thinking about doing the TRD Tundra 2inch lift with the 5100 bilsteins and the OME Springs on the rear BUT would it be right to do that on a 2000 2.7L Automatic 2WD?

If not, what would be a better lift for my 4runner? And I'm also planning on getting everything new, I don't want to put used parts on it.

For all intents and purposes the 2wd can be lifted just like the 4wd (same parts, etc). The only difference is that in the rear is that the upper control arms are shorter.

^^ I think these are okay as far as fit but what is the height difference if used with quick struts like these?

I have a question regarding the body lifts.

Why are there so many people doing body lifts after a 3" lift? Just larger tires?

Same with the wheel spacers, what is the purpose? Wider tires?

Anyone have the OME 3" lift kit with full armor/swingout/rack installed. I am trying to see how the OME 3" lift looks with it fully loaded down. I am concerned it will look back to factory height with all weight on it. Tried Google and pictures where scattered with different lifts and no info on the site/picture.
Any info or pictures would be great or even anyone that has done this please PM me so I can pick your noggin.

Not sure of the weight difference between a 3.4 and 2.7, but the 4wd components probably weigh 200lbs more, give or take. Probably just a stiffer ride is all...

ideal tires for my lift and wheels

I have a 99 I am doing King coilovers and Total Chaos UCA's up front and the Sonoran Steel 1.2 setup on the rear. I am running xd127 wheels 16x8 4.5" backspacing. looking to run the Toyo MT. What would be Ideal with this setup? 265/75r16,285/75r16 or 305/70r16. I am looking for it to function well, if i have to fold over a pinch weld so be it but I don't want it rubbing constantly when offroad. Secondary to function is looks. of the three which would likely look the best proportionally etc.

Might be a dumb question but, when manufactures say its a 1" or 2" lift whats the base high of the 4runner they're using? From what I've read, the 96-00 are one height, the 01-02 are lower, and the 99 is the highest.

Hey guys im lifting my 99 4runner soon. It has 164k miles and original LBJ's... They look great and have as far as I can tell no play... Should I replace them before I do my lift?
