3rd Gen 4Runner Lift Information and FAQ's

2.5 inch lift

im going with 5100s up front and expecting around 1.75-2.5 inches of lift. I do not want the reverse rake. should I add new springs in the back to lift it up some, if so what are your suggestions?

I don't know if this is helpful, but I'm pulling off my OME setup (4 Nitrocharger shocks and 4 springs) to go to a custom suspension, and it's available for $400 if a T4R member wants it for a low investment lift. (It'll be $450 if I sell it locally)

How much lift did you get from this? what was the ride quality like?

I might be interested, I live fairly close.

First off - Keith - got the PCK brackets in the mail and while I haven’t installed them yet they are amazing. What s great mod for the community here. Thank you.

Question for the group: I have the ToyTec ultimate lift with the fronts set to ~2.5” of lift and the rears as 906 springs + Daytec spacers = ~3.5” of lift. Any concerns running 34s on Sequoia rims with this lift? Should I expect any rubbing on the UCAs or body? I fully expect to have to work the pinch welds. LMK your thoughts.

To run 34's you will likely need to crank the coils up to at least 3inches of lift, if not more. UCA would be a good idea too, whether you have to run them or not depends on the offset of your wheels/if you decide to run wheel spacers, but it is very likely you will.

Still available? I'm interested. Just sent you a PM

Great thread! My '97 has 200k and what I believe is the original suspension. Looking forward to a 2-3" lift and a better ride. Love the stance of them a few inches higher

I've read through all this and many other posts and pretty much settled on the following. Hope it all goes together well as I'm new to the 4Runner world!

Front:
-Bilstein 5100 tundra struts
-Wheelers Eibach 3"lift coils
-Wheelers Diff drop

Rear:
-LC80 front coils (8wrap)
-Bilstein 5100 tundra shocks
-eimkeith PCK
-2nd gen 4runner (1995) rear sway bar link

Came across some 2018 taco trd coilovers and shocks for cheap. Was wondering if they would fit on my 2001? If not, why? I'm new to the Toyotas. I've built 2 diesels so I'm pretty mechanically inclined. I'm at a loss on where to find specs for the parts. Any help is appreciated.

shocks will not fit. you could use the springs but that’s all.

I'm ready to buy. What would YOU choose? Why?

I'm ready to order a lift, but it seems every package in my price range has negative reviews of some sort. I was ready to pull the trigger on a Toytech/Eibach 3" lift, but hear from some they are garbage and break easily. Toytech/Bilstien shows similar criticism. Yotamafia 5100 Bilstien kit seems like a good deal, but again...some say 5100's are no good. OME looks appealing, but people say they sag too much.

My price range is right around 1,000 or less and I like the packages that include everything. I don't wheel hard (often), but don't want things to break either. I daily drive my T4R and get out on the weekends to explore, hunt, and fish. I hope to one day add a bumper, but not for a while and the adjustable units seem to be out of reach at the moment. I want 2.5"-3" of lift and a diff drop. I want on-road handling (as it is where I spend most of my time) with off-road capability and toughness.

What am I missing? Is there a "best" choice in this price range or do I just throw a dart and live with the possible cons of whatever I choose?

Go with 7.5 wrap LCs, 8s give you 4" of lift

Suggestion: Suspension Setup?

Just bought a 2000 4Runner and looking to fix her up. For pure asthetics, I would like to lift about 2.5 to 3 inches but not sure which route to take. Any suggestions?

I have a 99 and am looking to refresh the suspension a little bit. I am planning on keeping my 99 tall springs in front and going with OME 906’s in the rear. Also planning on 5100s all around. If using the 4runner 5100’s, what perch should I run them on to get a rake of 0.5” or so? Should I get spacers just in case? I’m pretty new to all this.

Measure! The 906's should put the center of hub to fender lip right at or just over 22". The bottom perch on the 5100's will be your current ride height and each setting above that is about 3/4" - so now you can figure it our yourself. It'll either be the second or third from the bottom that will work for you, depending on where your front springs are riding right now.

Thanks for the info! One more quick question, is this in reference to the Tundra 5100’s or the 4runner specific ones?

Hi Guys,
I have a 99 FWD SR5 with 283 K.
My suspension is original and getting tired. The front stands at 20 5/8, the rear at 20 1/4, measured from the center of the hub to the fender. I run 265/70/17.

A few day ago I came across a set of springs and rear shocks from a 2019 TRD 4Runner.
After reading some of the threads on this forum, I decided to pull the trigger and buy the set.

I installed the rear springs and shocks and currently measure at 21, not a huge gain but better than before.
The rear spring, when truck is lifted, are loose due to the longer shocks from the Gen5. They sit OK when back on the ground.
Is this something that can be remedied with shims or should I go for Tundra 5100?

Also, what set up for the front if I go with the Gen5 springs?
Thanks
