Buddy won a new set of Raceline™ forged beadlocks so he's letting me have his old set plus a spare for $400. The ones I'm getting from him are the 16x8 Daytona steel wheels and they clear the Tundra brake upgrade so I'm pretty stoked. These are the ones.....



granted, with what I have right now, I would take any rims.....and now for tires.....

Question... a wider wheel (8-10 inch) any issues with them wider? thinking of a 285/70r16 nitto on a 10 inch wide rim w/ 2inch lift, I'm just not familiar with wider rims choices... average looks to be 8-9 inch wide w/ a few 10's

You have to take into consideration the offset of the wheel too.

A wider wheel is ok. The extra inch or 2 is always on the outside of the rim, not on the inner side. Definitely do your research on offset & backspacing. If the wheel sticks out too far you'll crush your front fenders when stuffing. Especially if your end links are disco. There's only a small window for our tires between the UCA & fender.

The widest I would go with that size of tire is 8" max. Stay away from 10" unless you never plan to air down (street only) or you're running a stupid wider tire.

285/75r16 on a 16x8 wheel would be my choice. Hell, I ran 315/75r16 on the stock 16x7s on my F250 for a while. That felt very strange on the road, but kicked ass when aired down offroad, haha.

This is all IMHO, of course.

Very nice combo, as well. Anything wider than 9" wide wheel with a 12.5" wide tire is useless offroad, IMHO. Would make me feel uneasy with 10psi, thinking I would pop a bead.

I want to run Tundra brakes and my buddy gets a deal on Method wheel, but the only 17's they have in our bolt pattern are that configuration.

Accepts Factory TRD Center Cap
TRD Center Cap (p/n PTR18-35092) for 16" Toyota "Beadlock" Wheel can be used in place of the Level 8 cap.​

I will let someone else weigh in to get a more definitive answer, but I think that is too much backspacing to work for us.

The sweet spot for lifts and, more so with 285s is between 4.5 to 3.5 backspacing. Once you start venturing too far from those specs, you will have some serious geometry issues on your hands. Think lotshe of modification and rubbing. I would suggest checking out the lifts facts page.

But if you find somethingyou like in 4.5 to 3.5, you should be ok. That seems to be the standard that clears UCAs and won't push you too far outside toward the body's wheel wells to do damage upon full compression.
