3rd Gen Foglight and HighBeams (2002)

Hello,

I have a 2002 4Runner and have been looking on the forums here and on yotatech etc for a DIY or guide on how to get the Foglights to come on with the headlights and still be able to use the switch on the stalk.

So that way I can either use the lights as normal and be able to turn on and off the fog lights regardless of wether or not my low beams or high beams are on.

"Cut the Green/Black wire on pin 16 of the DRL control module and ground it (not the connector end but the wire to the connector). This provides a ground that doesn't get cut when the brights are on." See the first picture.

If I understand correctly though; your method makes it so that when the low beams are on you are not able to turn off the fog lights?

You don't want to do what he posted. You are looking to be able to use the fogs with both your high and low beams correct?

I have a super simple way to do that If that is the case. It just takes one small piece of wire and jumping the fog light relay in the fuse box to the tailight circuit. I'll take a couple pics tonight after work and post here on how to do it.

It's easier than adding a switch lol It is literally a less than 2 minute mod lol I'll post it here and make a new how-to thread later maybe.

No, but it will only run when the low beams are on (but can be turned off with the fog light switch).

To make them run at any time (controlled by the fog light switch), cut the wire to pin 1 of the fog light relay and jumper pins 1 and 5 on the fog light relay in the under-hood fuse/relay box (cut the wire to pin 1 so the low beams don't come on with the fogs). Do this in addition to cutting the Green/black wire to pin 16 of the DRL and grounding it.

All it is, is a simple jumper wire from the parking lights fuse to the relay tab shown that is bent up.

You want them to come on automatically, but turn them off manually?

That should take care of one the things I wanted to do. I want to be able to turn of the DRL as well. BTW I have a 2000 so I believe things are slightly different.
