I know there is an Audio/Electronics section but figured I'd get more traffic here and hope to get an answer to get my issue resolved by tomorrow. If the mods feel the need to move this thread, I don't have a problem with it.
Ok, so I ordered 5 1/4" speakers for the rear of my T4R from Crutchfield[along with new HU, and front speakers/tweeters] and we started installing the rears tonight since we thought they'd be easy and hoped to knock it out before we tackle the fronts and the HU tomorrow.
Everything went smoothly using the Crutchfield supplied speaker mounting bracket[except only 3 of the screws lined whereas the Toyota OEM bracket had 4 screws in it] until we tested the window travel up/down. Seems that the window hits slightly right before it hits bottom. We tried to shim it using some plastic but it still hit...
Has anyone run into this issue and how was it resolved? We're thinking of going to HD or Lowe's tomorrow and buying some MDF and tracing the Crutchfield supplied bracket to give the speaker magnet more distance from the window...seems like the only reasonable solution.
Any thoughts? TIA
Oh and if anyone has any insight onto mounting the fronts/tweeters please chime in! Any tips are welcomed.
