3rd gen Skidplate Plans Available Here

I am offering for sale complete plans for a transmission forward skid plate for the 3rd gen 4runner. This skid plate design fully covers all the components of the 4runner belly including, lower radiator, oil pan, front diff, steering rack, transmission pan, and front driveshaft while also allowing easy access to the front diff to change cv shafts should that be necessary. The design allows the skid plate to be bolted to 5 of the existing stock skid plate mounts along with 5 additional mounts that tie directly to the frame. I have extensively tested these skids on my own rig and they are easily capable of supporting the full weight of the 4runner, they are also easily installed by one person with the use of a floor jack. When constructed from 3/16 steel all components total 72 lbs.

This design requires the addition of two mounting tabs to the transmission cross member however everything else can easily be removed and reverted to stock

Each set of plans includes:

• 3d CAD models (upon request)
• detailed dimensioned drawings of all steel components
• detailed pictures of install
• build instructions
• materials list

Nice work! I am still putting off making some skid plates but will keep this in mind. My stock one is a bit bent out of shape so it doesn't quite mount the same anymore :/

It will depend a lot on where you source the steel from and what if any pieces you have them cut out but I would say on the high side would be $150. To put it into perspective I bought a 4x8 sheet of 3/16 and one yard wanted 250 for the sheet undelivered but the other local yard wanted 150 with delivery.

Found this older thread and pmd the op a few weeks ago with no response. Does anyone know if there is another source for a skid plate design like this? I like the idea of making my own and saving some time on the design. Saves a lot of money in shipping a pre made one to me as well.

I am just starting the process on getting a set designed for my 98. Will probably be late summer by the time I finish them as I have a bunch of maintenance work to do as well and have a almost 1 year old that takes most of my time.
