drilled through the bumper dude. cant remember the size of the drill bit but when i bought the Hellas i remember the instructions came with the size of the bit you need to drill with if you were to drill through a plate to mount them.

That's how I did mine as well. If you do it, make sure you pre drill with a sharp, small bit first . This will prevent the large drill bit from running across your bumper and scratching it up.
I also put a rubber grommet through mine to protect the bumper, and sprayed the underside with paint so it wouldn't rust.
