Had a good time yet again at Hawk Pride Offroad Park in Alabama.

They actually came stock on the 01-02 sport, very rare though. Just Surfing through the local ads on craigslist and found them for pretty cheap

Can't believe you were out there too! I spent all day Saturday and Sunday at Hawk Pride. I even camped there with a friend, I'm surprised we didn't cross paths. We should go together sometime, I thought I was the only Toyota out there. That park is so much fun!

I only saw Jeeps, a Tahoe, Bronco, and all the Razrs. I was able to run all of the trails rated "Easy" and made it up one of the three "Intermediate" trails I tried. Not bad at all for stock suspension I think. I don't recognize any of the trails from your pics other than the one of "Big Hill".

Here's my weekend in pictures.
Fun little trail through a swampy area. Lots of ups and downs that the short wheel base made easy.

First of the 3 intermediate trails. The soil was so sandy here I couldn't grip. It was just digging and pulling the rocks out from under. I ended up backing up and never even made it to the rock obstacles.

Second of the intermediate trails I tried. Couldn't make it over this either. Got hung up on the gas tank skid when I slid off my intended line.



Some serious 3 wheeling. This was a little sketchy. I had my friend hanging onto the car until we were sure it was stable.


Different kind of lean than most 4Runners have.

Fully flexed stock suspension.

Stuffing the 255/75/17 BFG M/T's.

This was on the only intermediate trail I made it up. This lead to a cool little cave at the top. One of my favorite pictures from the weekend too.

Climbed this pile of dirt because I could and it was a great photo opportunity. Really shows the red Alabama clay for those who are unfamiliar with it.

I went out Trail 1, hopped on 22, then hit 23/25 down to the end of 88 and hopped onto 71 all the way back to 1, on Sunday morning. It was a good time. 71 was on the easy side of moderate, you could do I think stock. It's super fun to challenge yourself here isn't it?? I can do bout any moderate Trail, and its super fun to challenge myself on the moderate-hard trails. I've also driven over that same pile of dirt I believe :biggrin1:

Btw, I downloaded the PDF map from cartotracks to use with the pdfmaps phone app, 100% worth the money. Gets you a beautiful color coded (difficulty levels) map of the trails, and shows your gps location on top of the PDF map as you drive around. Made my life soooo much easier than last time just using the paper map and guessing where I was

Edit: where is this cool cave?? Looks like you got some good flexing in. We're you able to really challenge yourself and your rig a bit? I only really challenged myself a small amount this time, but challenged the hell out of myself and my rig last time I went haha on some moderate hard trails, first time I had been off-road with my lift kit!

That place is huge. The challenge is awesome. I'm looking at skids, bumpers, and lifts now so I can go back out there and conquer even more of the park haha. Good to know about the GPS map. I'll definitely do that next time. Using the paper map sucked, lots of guessing where I was like you said.

A few more inches of clearance and I would have been able to do a lot more out there I think. The cave was somewhere around 72 and 73 I think. Not too sure though since I was using only the paper map. Let me see if I have a picture on my phone of the cave. It wasn't huge but it was kinda neat watching the people in their Polaris's try and drive up it.

I had barely enough clearance to pop up over this rock. That was fun. This was on the way up to the cave.

Thats sweet. You're truck looks good out there. Having a few extra inches is huuuuuuge there. I am very happy with what my truck can do with the SS 7.2 kit. It can do just about everything I want it to do right now with it still being my daily driver. If it were any more capable, I'd be pushing it even harder, and would likely end up breaking things more, which I'm not really ok with right now haha.
