Awesome picture! Did you do the trail to Como lake?

Nope, made to to Jaws 2 on the Blanca Peak trail where I got high centered on the obstacle. It's easy to see why someone died there. There were a couple rigs heading down on the shelf road and with the rain after Jaws 1 we decided it was a good time to bail. Jeff pulled me off the obstacle and we headed back to camp.

On the way back we ran into these guys, both really cool dudes, they pulled to the side of the trail to let another vehicle pass and got sucked down the slope with the soft shoulder. When we stopped and offered to help out the other vehicle just left. I could tell the folks in the downward bound vehicle didn't have a clue how to help but I thought that was still kind of lame. After all the two guys in the Tacoma had the right of way and pulled off to make room so the other vehicle wouldn't have to back up to the nearest turn point. For what it's worth the soil was too lose for the strap so we ended up winching to get them back on the trail.

Good thing that Taco didn't get sucked any farther....rolling that truck would ruin anyone's day! It's a good thing you were there to help, they've have been screwed if no one else came along.

I've never been up any of those trails, but my brother has. He said they are pretty gnarly.

I'd have to agree. It's not a trail I'd recommend for a stocker. It's really mellow like in the photo for a while and then shabang! Jaws 1. I'm really looking forward to going back there again to run the rest of the trail. It's definitely a trail that pushes the limits of my rig and my driving. Fun stuff!

Yeah Blanca Peak definitely has some tough obstacles. I think its safe to say that without lockers, you won't be able to run it. With just the rear locked, Glen couldn't quite get over Jaws 1 and he had to lock the front to get over it. And well, this is where I ended up with out any lockers:

Blanca Peak is an hour from my family's cabin and I've always wanted to go check it out. Now that my '01 is getting built up a good bit, I've been thinking to myself... "Maybe I could make it up the Como Lake road..."

After seeing those pictures, it looks like I'm going to need to invest some more in the 4Runner before I try it. That, and find some people to ride with. That doesn't look like something you'd want to try alone.

Looks like an awesome trip! Blanca Peak has been on my to-do list for when the 4runner gets a little more capable. Even all the traildamage photos look amazing.

It's a good thing you guys didn't damage anything being so far from denver:thumb3:.

Snapped a few pics of the intake my buddy and I put together, runs from the stock airbox to turbo inlet, and can work with a cone filter as well if needed. All the welding and most of the fab work can be attributed to my good friend Glen.

So I went up to Saran Wrap yesterday with a friend and had a blast. It was a little wet so traction wasn't as good as it could have been, but no one else was up there so that was nice.

It was definitely on the upper end of what my 4runner can do until I add a sliders, locker, etc. This is the first time I took the sway bars off (been too lazy/didn't need to in the past) and it made a big difference. Those couple extra inches of down-travel really help out.

The wet rocks were giving me trouble here, so I decided to try out my winch. I love that thing

I almost finished the last obstacle but the wet dirt kept sliding me into that boulder (now I have another nice dent in my rocker panel). Sliders with a kick-out would have been prefect here.

That last picture is the last obstacle before the high road and low road meet up. So I didn't make it, but it was real close. And I don't have lockers...yet

i've tried that trail twice, the last time i tried it, there was still a little snow on the mountain which made it extra challenging lol its definitely a trail best done when dry. great pics though, too bad i dont live out there anymore, otherwise i'd be up there with you guys

Small backroad trip

Pictures from a short backroad trip over here. It is very, very dry these days. Usually the river flows over these rocks making it a nice waterfall.
