4.0 V6 Spark plug error

First time poster, but been using the site as a resource for awhile. I just 100K on my runner and decided it was time to do some of the maintenance (coolant, tranny flush, etc. etc.) any way I searched on here and found like 100 spark plug posts and decided that I'd go with the Iridiums. Well I pull out the plugs that have been in the truck for the last 20K+ miles.

Thing is I don't think they affected performance in any negligible way despite being way too short. I passed the CA Smog test with flying colors and the truck has never thrown any codes or had any misfires.

No clue when or where these were installed but it was before I bought the truck.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was some halfassed dealer somewhere. The people here at Sunnyvale CA toyota tried telling me I had "World Standard" tranny fluid and had to have the service writer inspect on the hood and prove it had a dip stick reading "Type IV" and was not a WS tranny...

I think I'd compare those iridium to the Denso plugs. They look kinda long IMO. I'd be worried that they're longer than the OE Denso and might cause an interference and damage.

actually, this is my first post on this site. I've been visiting this site for awhile now, but never really registered for it. I would definitely say this is a great site for resource.

As for the spark plugs, I just swapped mine out. I recently purchased a pre-owned '06 sport edition 2wd V6 and swapped out the plugs this weekend. Those Iridium plugs are correct size and if you look at the driver's side bank of the engine, they have a warning label for using the longer (thread length) plugs.

I took my 4 Runner to Sunnyvale Toyota 1 time for the 30k service and i will never go back again. Those guys dont know shi** about 4 runners. My service rep tried to tell me i didnt have an cabin air filter and the V6 comes with the 100k miles spark plugs. I even had to take it back twice just.

I believe the Type IV ATF was only used in the 2003 4Runner. Easy mistake but they should know better.

Yeah what a bunch of Reetads! I replaced the Cabin Air Filter for under $20 and these jokers are running an Ad on TV to replace it for $69 or $89, RipOff! I can't flush tranny fluid on my own, and you'd think that a Dealer only miles from America's first Toyota Dealership and 20mins from the Old Nummi plant, would know their stuff. I'd expect lack of knowledge at a Mississippi 'yota dealer but not in friggin' silicon valley!
