4 mile test track

The Toyota salesman I've been talking with said that all 4Runners come off the transport with 4 miles on the odometer. He said that after assembly, the technicians run the vehicles through a test course to make sure everything is working right. If I recall correctly, some here have said they took delivery with less than 4 miles (like 1) on the odo. Have you guys heard of this test track or am I getting a line from the salesman?

I am not sure the Toyota technician took the test drive on mine....But when my saleman gave me my 4Runner, it reads 1 mile only...including the distance that the saleman had to drive from the parking place to the showroom....If that is the case, Toyota technician did reverse the odometer after the testdrive....so like Thai once said about how to reverse the odometer...it is legall right!...:D :D ...

a new sport v6 4x4 i test drove actually had o miles on the odometer when i hopped in the driver seat...

Some vehicles are tests on the test track, say 1 out of every 10,000 Runners or so. The vehicle will say if it was tests or not by a sticker on the drivers window usually.

The vehicles I looked at and sat in had like 1 mile on them, no more than that.

i had mine with just over 4 miles.

JDM

assembly line --> transport
transport --> port
port --> boat

USA

boat --> port
port --> transport
transport --> dealer

dealer has to do prep on the vehicle and you could get xtra .1 miles for them calibrating the compass if the easy calibration doesnt work (different calibration methods are listed in the manual).

best case scenario is under 1 mile whice would read zero on the odemeter, but would show up on the trip meter since it reads in .1 increments.
