These things will run forever with proper maintenance. I'm on my 4th V8 with a 00 and 02 Tundra and an 04 4R. The 00 Tundra is still in the family as I gave it to my father in law years ago. The last time I checked it was at 482K. My son just totaled my wife's old 2001 RX300 with 436K. That was my challenge vehicle. I wanted to see how many it would go. It was also blessed by the Toyota/Lexus Gods. I had never even replaced a single buld on that car. Still had the original starter, alternator, radiator etc. I still have it and am currently parting it out.

Yeah, those 4.7's are great engines. Would love to hear how far your father in law takes the Tundra.

Wow, those 1st gen RXs were strong. Hope your son is ok. My father had a 2001 RX300 and while it was pretty good, it did encounter a lot of hiccups. My father treats his cars like bicycles, which is to say, he doesn't take care of them (not on purpose). I'm basically in charge of the upkeep of my all my family's vehicles. Anyway, we had the climate control "clicking" issue for years, engine was burning oil (oil light was on only while braking, but my father didn't say anything to me for months. When I checked the oil, it was 3 quarts low. Capacity is 5qt. LOL. Lot's of other issues I can't think of, but it was traded in for the 2010 RX350 he now has.
