You can use it on-road. The Owner's Manual says that you'll get "better economy" and "less noise" in 2WD mode, but it's OK to run it in 4WD (H4, don't lock center diff!) on dry pavement.

The manual also tells you to run it in 4WD at least 10 miles a month to make sure the 4WD parts stay lubricated.

The V8's have full-time 4WD; there is no 2WD setting!

Oh cool! That clear a lot up for me. Thanks a lot man! Now to find a 03 v6 sport. You guys know of anyone trying to get rid of one? Haha Thanks for you help man!

Unless you like the textured vinyl cladding, I would suggest looking at on '04. Prices should be very close and you will get painted (color matched) cladding and an extra year of fixes after the first year of the 4th gen release.

Only the first half of the 2003's had unpainted cladding. There should be plenty of 03's with the painted cladding available.

Hey guys thank you for your help in looking and all your suggestions. I do like the painted cladding over the gray plastic :) I just wish I could find something close. I'll keep my eyes on that classified section for sure. I can't wait to be a official owner of a 4runner! Let me know if you guys see any amazing deals please! Thanks again to all!
