I searched and didn't find anything on this so I thought I'd pose the question at risk of getting run out of the forum I realize. Anyway, I seem to see more women driving 4runner's than men around here. Do you all consider the 4runner a chick car? Seems most people on my google search think of it as the Limited being a chick car but the SR5 a guy car.

It actually isn't based on trim, its based on VIN. Certain VIN numbers are set aside for chicks. Run it through google before you buy.
Honestly man, I wouldn't worry about it. Yes, a butt-ton of soccer mom's drive 4runners, but thats true of all SUVs. Price is probably the number one reason why people choose between limited or SR5, not gender. Just MHO. :thumbs up:

He was kidding. I dont think its a chick car at all. If any chick car is out there its the Lexus GX 460/470. Now theres a 99/1 ratio if I ever saw one.
I don't think the 4Runner is a chick car. Then again, I love my wife's MINI (6MT, limited slip diff, supercharged).
But, really, I would say that there is a certain segment of the female population that want a masculine vehicle. The 4Runner has always been pretty masculine looking with the boxy shape and strong exterior features.

I have noticed there are more chicks driving 4th gens than 3rd gens. I think it has something to do with the curves of the vehicle and the smooth appearance.
Anyways, it's still a 4runner, no matter who drives it.

The 4Runners seem to be about 50/50 female to male.My GF has a 97 Limited 4Runner!:thumb3:

It's the same around the Redmond/Bellevue, nothing but chicks in the GX 460/470 dropping off their kids at the parks, schools, and mall. I have yet to see a guy driving one.
Around here 4wd SUV's are popular mainly because we get a lot of Snow in Winter. Being able to tow a boat, travel trailer, or other toys is popular too. Also there's being able to load up the family for those outings. Then there's the fact that the 4Runner is historically one of the most reliable vehicles made.
All those reasons make them popular with both Men And Women. It's never struck me as a 'chick car' at all.

At 1 point a year or so ago I was also considering the Nissan Xterra Offroad...now I'm not sure about the offroad trim, but it was very evident that once I started noticing them on the road, that they were seriously all chicks.
A good test is when you are talking to a girl friend about buying any vehicle, if her response is, "OHHHH cute! I want one of those!" ... you should maybe reconsider.

The wife says that the 3rd and 4th gens are more "smooth" and feminine looking and that is why a few of her friends have them. She also says that it has to do with reliability, safety, and utility. Lots of girls here surf and go to the beach regularly, and many have dogs...the 4runner is perfect for that stuff because of the rear window. Here in Charleston, SC, there are a large number of young attractive girls driving 3rd gens...probably college chicks. The 4th gens tend to be more of the soccer mom ride in this neck of the woods. 5th gens are predominantly male so far. I also have not seen a single 5th driven by a woman.
Chicks seem to think that a guy driving a 4runner is the hottest thing though. Go watch "Up In The Air" for movie reference. I guess everybody wins.

This thread made me chuckle because I was thinking how many women I see driving 4Runners in my area. I don't think I've ever seen a guy driving one. There are 2 others where I work, both driven by women. I've seen 3 other 5th gens around and all 3 were driven by women. At the end of the day, do I care? Heck no, I love my ride.
