4Runner did its job last night

my estimate on getting the front end of my truck back together was just over $10,000. $18,000 for repairs alone later, they should have totaled it out like i told them to.

i think in the end that lady running the stop sign that i T-boned cost the insurance company $42,000. i bet they wish they would have wrote me that $30,000 check right off the bat.

Holy $hit - was anyone in the passenger side? Have any pics of that side? Because from that front-on shot, it looks a lot worse than the driver's.

Lift gate is shifted to the driver side and up. It hit the other side of the bumper. I havent opened it yet...

That sucks,...glad you're ok. Looks like he didn't hit your square on, if so the damage would have been a lot worse if he was indeed doing 70-80MPH.

The tailgate damage is gonna make it more expensive -- look at probably close to 7k.
 
Damn! Glad you're okay and certainly reassures me (not that I needed it) that I made the right choice buying my '15. MAKE SURE you go after his insurance for diminished value too. That Carfax report will follow your 4Runner now. It'll catch up eventually. Make sure they make that right with you now.

^^^^This. Same thing with my wife’s RDX. Guy hit from behind around 40-50 into back passenger QTR panel and threw her RDX into the car in front of her. Initial quotes were around 10K, and I kept telling my INS comp “you’re f’n crazy... gonna be twice that, total it.” They wouldn’t do it. Almost THREE months in the shop and 20K later, fixed. Walked out to it, and IMMEDIATELY pointed to the body weld/blend between B and C pillars... Unreal.

Point of my story... be weary of those QTR panel/angled hits... they tend to do more damage and twist (frames or sub-frames) more than people let on. Hope it all works out for ya. Keep us posted.
 
I hate it that these things happen...

I had the same corner smashed in and it cost me about $4800 to get it back to new. However, I didn't have as much damage as you, and my liftgate was not knocked out of whack...

Went vy the other day to swap out rentals... decided to see how progress was going on the Runner.
Just came off the frame machine. Everything was square. So that is good news.
Old panel getting grind/cut out.. should be done next week.
